This dream team cannot figure out how to solve even much more simple issues in career during the whole year, do not expect them to implement such advanced feature as changing liveries haha
Subject: Deep Disappointment: €80 for a Career Mode with Zero Customization
Message:
I am writing to express my absolute frustration and a feeling of being completely “ripped off” by Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. I paid €80 for this simulator, expecting a premium, next-generation experience. Instead, I find myself locked out of the most basic feature of any business sim: creating my own identity.
To be honest, I feel screwed over. How is it possible that in a game of this price and scale, I cannot even upload a simple PNG file for my company logo or use my own liveries in Career Mode? You sold us a “Career Path,” but you’ve denied us the ability to build a brand. Being forced to choose from a few generic, ugly icons feels like a joke, and not a funny one.
The technical excuses about “server stability” or “moderation” are insulting to customers who paid full price. We are in 2026, and a single picture should not “shut down a server.”
My demands are simple:
Stop locking content: Let us use the liveries we already have in our Community folders within the Career Mode.
Personal Branding: Give us a tool to upload our own company logos immediately.
I didn’t pay €80 to be a generic pilot in a generic company. I paid for a simulator that was advertised as the “most immersive ever.” Right now, that immersion is broken by greedy or lazy design choices.
Fix this
i think they want as pay for everithing. and if so im ok to make one time payment to upload my own livery, i cant see any problem to upload a simple .png file about 200kb ![]()
Yeah, I guess a lot of us were thinking that all the disabilities and restrictions in career mode were because they would soon monetize it. But look where we are now… almost 1 1/2 years after release and we are still unable to do the most basic thing > choose or even make our own livery for our own company.

Still unable to select liveries in career. No time frame. No communication. Just need to get to 18 million votes on this tread before they’ll even notice the issue.
Can we expect the ability to change liveries in Career Mode with Sim Update 5.
“So this has been a bit unprioritized because as we were saying that new feature has been a little bit put in the back log. We started that, it was not working properly on every situation, so I don’t know exactly when it would be back but today there’s not such thing as changing liveries in career.”

Maybe if ya’ll started voting on this we’d get liveries by 2029. What a joke…
Yes I agree
Once we get the heavies we need to make alot of noise so this becomes a priority. It’s a must feature
Especially for airliners and heavies which is when the noise will rise, people want to fly with real airlines, not the same fake Asobo livery
Besides it’s kinda already there, you can buy an Air NZ A321 in career mode now. You can buy a livery pack and the first livery if that packs is added to the aircrsft to buy in career mode. So how hard is it to implement?
Currently you have no choice if you buy the A321 you get the Air NZ livery, so do they expect us to fly that aircraft around Europe or USA with Air NZ. C’mon man, pls sort this out
They couldn’t get it to work so we just said screw it. How hard is it to take the livery options you have in free flight and add them to career mode? Then you can work on whatever dream livery model you have envisioned for career mode.
Transferring an existing menu option inside the UI to another section of the same UI Is obviously close to rocket science.
Currently the only A321 you can buy in career mode has the Asobo shipped default Air NZ livery. So they can do it, they just need to insert the option into career mode. How hard is it?
Imagine shipping a career mode and forcing you to use the Air NZ livery on an airliner your purchased and delivered to Europe
C’mon Asobo it’s time to pull your socks up, understood there is other pressing issues and SU5, but the response to the career mode liveries in the Dev stream was beyond nonchalance and pretty poor from Martial. Once we get the heavy airliners up and polished the liveries need to start happening please
Sometimes they make it feel like a simulator with huge potential is in very bad hands. As if there isn’t a creative team, because let’s be honest, there’s zero creativity and the game is already almost a year and a half old. They should look around at other simulators, even something like ETS — it’s very complex and full of creative features, and a paint system is a basic feature. At Asobo, however, reaching even this small level seems like rocket science. And if it’s really that complicated for them, they should hand it over to a few skilled modders — they would solve it in weeks. It’s a constant disappointment from the developers… even though they have enormous potential in their hands.
Asobo, wake up!! ![]()
I understand the frustration, but we need to separate the problem from the solution.
Yes, implementing a paint system might not be that complicated. The issue is that it requires content moderation and online synchronization — players need to see each other with identical liveries.
The ETS2-approach (simple color palettes) is uninteresting and inflexible. There should be variety — each airline should have its own livery. Using real airline liveries for your own carrier is also questionable.
The right solution is a decal and geometry transformation system: players pick ready-made elements, adjust position, scale, rotation, and color. Decal coordinates and parameters are sent to the server — that’s it. Everyone sees the same thing, but moderation is required because players can draw or write whatever they want.
Airline name texts and colors can be customized; everything else follows predefined parameters.
There’s a catch though: one livery should theoretically work across all aircraft types, or have variations for different fuselages. You design for a 737, but you need it for an A310 too. That’s technically more complex — preserving geometry and ensuring nothing distorts during transfer is the real challenge.
There is no multiplayer on career mode
Even if we don’t see each other’s aircraft in the current version of Career Mode, the system is still cloud-based. Your fleet, your progress, and your aircraft’s appearance are stored on Microsoft servers. Asobo wouldn’t build a ‘local-only’ paint system just for career and then a separate ‘sync’ system for free flight. They need a unified architecture that works across all modes and ensures that your airline’s brand is consistent across the entire platform.
Cool, can they give us access to the liveries that are in the game already while they work on it? It’s only been 1 1/2 years after game release.
There is a fundamental contradiction here. If Career Mode is about building your own airline, why would you want to wear the skin of a real-world competitor like Delta or Emirates? It breaks the whole business logic of the career.
The reason Asobo isn’t just ‘unlocking’ existing real-world liveries is likely to preserve this immersion. But the current alternative — being stuck with a random alphabetical livery — is even worse.
That’s why we need a Customization System, not just a ‘Selector’. We need to be able to apply our own brand identity to the aircraft we own. If someone wants to fly a real airline, there is ‘Free Flight’ for that. Career should be about your brand, and the fact that we can’t design or even choose a neutral look is the real failure of the current system.
At least it would just be better to be able to select a livery that’s already exist than nothing, It’s not so much work to make it available, by some tricks It’s already possible to change a livery on career mode so…
Yes a fully customizable livery tool would be great, but how much will we wait for that ? Considering the state of the career mode and what Martial said on the last stream… ![]()
You are right about the current state of things. If someone is willing to use ‘tricks’ and manually swap files, it shows how desperate players are for basic customization.
However, the fact that we have to use ‘tricks’ instead of a simple in-game menu is exactly the point. Even if Asobo is busy fixing the core career bugs (as Martial mentioned), they still need a long-term roadmap for liveries.
If they just ‘unlock’ everything now as a temporary fix, it might create even more bugs with cloud syncing and airline branding later on. We aren’t just asking for a tool; we are asking for a proper UI bridge between our fleet and the liveries we already own. It shouldn’t be ‘rocket science’ to let us pick a livery in the hangar, but it MUST be done right to work with the cloud-based nature of MSFS 2024.
Do you think I care that the airline I build is not 100% grass roots my own airline with my own livery??? It’s a game dude, all I want is to stare at a different color airplane now and then.
Do you enjoy flying in career mode with the same livery over and over and over again? Good for you then, don’t change a thing, you’re all set.
More liveries, real or fake or custom are better than being locked into career with no other livery to choose from.
Idk why you’re arguing against your own interest, but okay. I’m guessing you’re not using career mode at all.
I think one could theoretically argue that one might choose to operate a feeder airline - they would be the SkyWest to Delta, so your company but with the paintjob of a larger airliner.
Honestly I think both options need to be available - custom and existing, and the latter seems technically far easier to achieve, yet we don’t even have that.
