So, I was finally able to get on today with no problem. A much better experience than yesterday. However, I was really excited for the career mode, but so far, it’s not really what I was expecting. So, a few questions.
I just got my CPL, so I was excited to start my career flying from location to location, doing jobs along the way, just like NeoFly and OnAir Company. However, when my instructor offered up my first CPL jobs (Ferry), the map moved all the way over to Europe and presented me with some ferry jobs. However, I wanted to start ferrying out of my home airport, and gradually make my way across the PNW/Canada/Alaska while taking on new jobs along the way, just like NeoFly and OnAir Company. This doesn’t seem to be an option though, as there is no jobs out of my home airport, and there actually isn’t any jobs in my home region at all, except for the initial tourism flights that you get after your PPL. Does this way of doing things open up down the line, or is it just always random jobs that are nowhere near your home base? Kind of breaks the career immersion if you are just teleporting from US to Europe and back in seconds.
Edit - I added this as a feature request. Please go upvote it if you agree!* REALLY disappointed that you can’t use Live Weather in career mode. I was really looking forward to flying missions in real time, with real weather. Not the pre-determined weather Asobo serves up. Of course, maybe some missions might need a locked weather/time setting, but I shouldn’t be forced to ferry a client in 60 degree partly cloudy weather if it’s beautiful fall colors with a light dusting of snow in the Pacific Northwest.
What is the locked out Companies option?
Is there a way to turn off the flight path? I disabled it in the settings, but it is still there on every flight.
I know there was more, but I can’t remember at this moment. I will edit when I think of more, but feel free to add your suggestions in here, in the hopes that Asobo reads them and implements some.
I saw a workaround for #4. If you turn off both the flight path markers AND the taxiway markers, the boxes will go away. It’s been noted as “bug logged” so they should be working on it.

@NixonRedgrave Right? I don’t understand why we can’t select our own preset or live weather. Granted, I just barely got my CPL, so maybe they add more variety, but every flight I have had to do so far was 60 degrees and partly cloudy. A far cry from the 35 degree snow covered hills that I am currently living in, and what I WANT to be flying in, because, that’s the actual weather in the region I am flying in.
Second all OP said, especially the linear spatial progress PLUS requesting the following for career mode :
Allow replay fuction!
More mission cutscenes, unloading cargo etc
Enforce universal time of day instead of arbitrarily taking us from season to season and night to day in an instant.
We want to fly into the night and back out into the dawn. We want to experience the days, moons, seasons and years progress in our careers - not just free flight.
Hopefully they actually read this and see there is a large community desire for live/editable weather @INoooch. As for the gates, someone above said that is a bug and they are aware of it, but if you set both the flight path and taxi ribbon to off in the settings, it might finally remove it. I can’t test that until tomorrow.
Yes, I started my career in Florida, all was good till i opened up new missions beside the dumb first missions… I want to advance to new missions but they is only one new mission and its in Italy… not even near my home base… and around my home base are 500 first flight missions.
It is a bug… hope it gets fixed to generate missions in my area.
Saw a twitch guy start in germany and all missions are showing up with no issues… they do like USA.. that hate us here. seems like it only works in Europe.
@Lion007lion others here have said that after you do the one initial mission in Europe, than you can return home and do those mission types in your region. It looks like with each new mission type introduction, it’s a static mission somewhere else in the world. Just compete it and return home to get those missions.
The first Ferry and Sightseeing missions take place in Germany and Venice, respectively. This was the same in the alpha build - it’s scripted that way. It seems like every introductory mission when starting a new Specialization takes place at a predetermined location marked by a gold icon.
It explains why your German friend managed to stay in Germany.
What’s the trick for getting past the CPL - Departure training mission? I cannot trigger the Take Off goal no matter what I try. I had this same problem with this mission in FS2020.
Live Weather gets unlocked after you get your IFR Rating.
I got 4 certifications done so far (PPL, CPL, IFR and High Powered). Working on Jet. You do have to get out of your region to get more activities. Specific region has specific activities. So you don’t get to them all from your home airport.
Unfortunately, the career mode is in early access.
Missing planes. I mean, lots of missing planes.
Bugs with passengers, route, atc and required planes.
Got my first CTD when landing after a 2 hrs flight.
Too bad, since I was mostly looking forwards to the career.
