Carenado announced Cessna 337 Skymaster

I have been back in this bird more than a little bit lately and everything works, I have Archer’s interior/glass and some liveries.

I did notice on some Carenado aircraft when using my Octavi, some have the main unit(or only unit) as MFD 2 for some reason(for the native Octavi profiles). I think this is one of them. So if your bindings for CDI or any other function buttons are specifically for the primary unit, it may not work. Although mouse clicking should of course.

I’m on Xbox Series S

Hello, just wondering; when you wrote above the HSI doesn’t change, what exactly does that mean? Anything else you can add by way of detail may help others help you. For example, unlike some of the glass cockpit systems which automatically change the HSI course, in many GA models we still have to manually align the HSI or CDI Course (CRS) to what the GPS is outputting. The course deviation bar of the HSI should still swing left or right of that course, but the pointer itself will not move to align to the correct course on the compass card of the HSI. There is probably a simpler why to describe this, but I am wondering if this is what you are experiencing?

I’m talking about the WT GNS530. There are two items for it, one that’s on all the time that you (we on PC anyway) can’t control, and another that, on PC anyway, we can choose to install or not.

On Xbox, do you not have a content manager through which you can install and uninstall addons? If you do, go to your content manager and search for “GNS”.

The one with the colored icon essentially is a link to force planes that use the old Asobo Garmin GPS’s to use the new WT Garmin GPS’s (430 and 530).

This addon was installed by default, but it causes problems with some planes. Most planes have been updated by now to use the WT avionics, but not all. I don’t know about the 337.

I like @Nikita’s explanation as a better reason, but, it’s worth checking if you have both WT GNS addons installed.

I’m on Xbox Series X, have the WT update installed, and no issues with GPS on HSI in the 337H-II in its current state. That said, even with the same configuration on Series S, perhaps concurrent with other add-ons challenging the system, some defects emerge? Could be we are making this too complicated until we understand what exactly the pilot is seeing on the HSI?

I totally agree with everything you’re saying.

I know on both xbox and PC I still had/have both WT ‘updates’ installed and with ~60 add-on aircraft it’s never caused an issue.

I have uninstalled every addon and still have the issue. Reinstalled everything back, same thing. The HSI doesn’t switch to GPS when I manually switch it to GPS on the GPS. I know what I’m doing, I’m a pilot IRL. Unless I’m missing another switch to hit to change the HSI to track GPS. All my other aircraft do not have this issue, just the Cessna Skymaster.

Would love to make my own livery skins for these.

Does anyone know what Carenado’s update plans are for 2024. I love this plane, but in 2024 the brightness of the display are off. I would also like it to be a fully featured 2024 plane, which I’ll pay for if needed.

However, Carando seems awfully quiet these days…

I was looking on their website today for similar information and found nothing.

You’re right, they are Stealth Developers now.

IDK of course, but in reality today the Skymaster-II is awesome in 24, unlike a lot of other 24 models. The GNS530 works, unlike quite a few default 24 models and the display issues affect most if not all 24 default aircraft. That said, it is only backwards compatible and not “24” yet. Yes hopefully they do offer a new version, but even if they don’t, I will be flying it for a long time. One of the very best high wing sightseeing airplanes in MSFS!

I would gladly pay for a full version of the plane, maybe a turbocharged variant even? also not 100% on if the real planes had it but it’s on the panel but no switches, all the anti-ice modeled/usable. Little things mean a lot to me, like being able to monitor cabin temps, managing anti ice, fuel temps, etc. (I know anti ice isn’t a “Little thing” but a lot of planes have it but not modeled well or at all.

I know right? They did just throw out that 185 ‘freebie’ LL that’s obviously in development, it’s like they’re only messing around with native ‘first party’ 2024 aircraft ATM.
