Carenado B390 IA for MSFS2024

No Takeoff Perf on the Collins Pro Line? What the??? All V-Speed settings are just blank on the MFD takeoff page, no airfield data, wx, nothing???. Gotta be something wrong here, the ProLine21 should enable the pilots to calculate all V-Speeds and transfer to the speed tape and MFD.

I noticed this issue with the CJ4 last night, so I think it’s an issue with the stock avionics - are you in SU4 beta?

No, I switched back to SU3 to test the 390.

I saw Working Title state this as a known issue with these avionics right now, though they had mentioned it being an issue specific to the CJ4 - this seems like it’s more universal than that, though.

Yeah - looks like it. Well hopefully it all gets fixed soon. I might jump over to the WT discord and see what’s happening.

I have to say, apart from that, she’s nice to fly. Really like it.

Says a lot I think, that you can’t rent this first

I took the plunge.

Firstly the night lighting is handled from the roof panel so it probably confused the first reviewer.

The avionics work but it’s just like the CJ4 so nothing to say really.

Handling seems odd in that it can feel very laggy and on the take off roll down the runway it feels like it needs to fly before you’re ready. Perhaps this is lifelike.

Overall I’m bored with it. I can’t see anything really bad but it lacks the sparkle of something like the Hondajet

My first opinion:

It is a disgrace in my opinion to sell a addon and using the more or less unmodified Avionics from another stock aircraft, without being honest about it and mention it in the description. The Takeoff and Landing performance page seem to be removed by intention, as they are working for me in my CJ4+. Carenado obviously just did not want to put the effort in, to adjust the performance calcualtion to fit the premier. So the user has zero help in figuring the takeoff and landing speeds out. The intregated checklist is useless in that regard. So one has to rely on external sources, which is a big disappointment. I didn´t expect a lot to begin with, but I still got even less then I thought.

Same goes for Flaps Speed indications on the PFD speed tape for instance. You still see the marking 15 and 35 which have nothing to do with the premier.

This is in my opinion moving into a direction of bredok and captain sim. I can see no love from the Dev going into this addon, just pure business. Quantity way over Quality.

As for other stuff that was mentioned here -

Panel Lighting is working for me. Control are on overhead panel. You have to switch the master on, and then you can adjust all flood and integrated lighst.

Maybe still bugged for others.
Some asked for Lift Dump. I found no ingame binding. But why even expect adding a simple keybinding for such things, when they dont even care about more important stuff.
You can still controll it via scripts:

Spoiler Switch (>B:HANDLING_SPEED_BRAKES_Toggle)

Lift Dump Switch (>B:HANDLING_LIFT_DUMP_Toggle) (but unlock it first)

Lift Dump Lock Switch (>B:HANDLING_LIFT_DUMP_LOCK_Toggle) (but unlock it first)

A real shame. Was looking forward to this, but will not pull the trigger until this has become a better product. Too arcade apparently now.

Did you really expect anything else from Carenado?

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I was less than pleased with another aircraft with the Proline 21 Avionics. The answer to this was that it was understandable, as developers can utilize the already existing avionics.

I did not expect much, but I still got let down^^. So it was indeed unexpected.

If they would modify the cj4 avionics at least a bit, to match the speeds and weights of the premier, then it at least would be an more or less average addon. Or if they would at least be absolutely upfront with it, and would mentioned it in their shop page.

Wasted potential like a lot of their aircraft. It will still be a financial succes I bet.

Cheers

Not impressed with this one , panel lights don’t work for me at night , no simbrief integration , no departure info , seems arcade like I didn’t expect much but at least have some panel lights working and yes I checked on the top of the roof above still no dice even after turning on panel switches. Save your money .

Glad I didnt get it haha.

People who are saying they are using the default weights from the CJ4 are wrong.

They have modified them to be correct for the Premier I

Figure (Max) Carenado Premier I Real Premier I Cessna CJ4
Empty Weight 7,996 lbs 7,950 lbs 10,280 lbs
Zero Fuel Weight (ZFW) 8,796 lbs 8,900 lbs 12,500 lbs
Fuel Capacity (usable) 3,704 lbs 3,700 lbs 5,828 lbs
Take-Off Weight (MTOW) 12,500 lbs 12,500 lbs 17,110 lbs

Also people who are saying that there is no V-Speeds is wrong. You have to click REFS → You enter them on the PFD.

Also the real Collins Pro Line 21 does not have takeoff or landing performance computation. You have to work it out manually and enter it in the REFS. The default Proline avionics support this but Carenado disabled it to be true to the real aircraft, which is accurate!

Also I tested up to 40,000ft and the climb performance is accurate to what is published for the premier I

Altitude Climb Rate
30,000 ft ≈ 1,200–1,500 ft/min
20,000 ft ≈ 2,000 ft/min
10,000 ft ≈ 2,900 ft/min
Sea Level ≈ 3,500 ft/min
FL410 ≈ 800 ft

Carenado aircraft are not perfect, but people saying they just copied and pasted the CJ4 weights and flight model and speeds are wrong, this is not the case. It handles differently to the CJ4 too.

Sure things aren’t at the level of a study level aircraft, but I am quite pleased with it for what it is. The only bit I wish they’d improve is the sounds.

You can see the CJ4 BOW in FMS and the CJ4 Flap Speed Marker on the PFD speed tape. I dont find anyone mentioning they copied the the weight and flight model. It is only about the Avionics.

And if there is no V speed calculation in the real thing, than that is ok, but how should player now figured out his speeds. There is no manual for that addon, at least I found none, and there is no info in the Checklist.

IIRC the Cj4 does have that, select departure runway and input the weather information and it’ll give you V speeds for both takeoff and landing.

OK so last night I wasnt able to make it FL410, I stopped at FL370 climbing at about 500fpm for the last 1000ft. What speed are you climbing at? My initial was 210IAS and I dropped it starting around FL260 until I got a mach hold and then about M 0.50

The FMS defaults to 240/0.64 which is the Cj4 climb

Yep, but the Premier I doesn’t have it IRL. Slightly different versions of Proline Avionics.

Yes this is classic Carenado, they don’t seem to bother configuring the WT Avionics passed their default settings, it looks like they have the default weights in the FMS, the real Premier doesn’t have those flap markings it has little green ticks, but as they are using the default WT Avionics, WT would need to add that for it to be accurate. Unless Carenado made custom avionics which they don’t seem to do

Also I made a mistake the 1A is supposed to have performance calcuations but the 1 doesn’t. But again i’m not exactly suprised as they are using the default avionics

Same for me pannel lights are not working It’s barely flyable at night without flood light.. Someone has a solution ?

Edit: I was finaly able to activate it by binding a key to turn every interior light on

As its usable in career mode did anyone find the ground speed indicator?
