Carenado Mooney M20R Ovation

That is one way. So I don’t have to mess around with my yoke’s hat switch bindings, I edit the views into the camaras.cfg file.

Can you share you how edited the camera.cfg file?

I didn’t use dev. mode. What I did was create a custom view exactly how I wanted it, then created a new camera view, actually editing an existing one with the camera position, and the direction it is facing.

The most important for that are these two:

InitialXyz = 0.02, 0.54, 0.95
InitialPbh = -0.5, 0, 0

Top one is position, the bottom one is the direction it faces.

The custom views go into a file unique to each plane. I simply copy those values from the custom camera into the default camera file.

Say i’m happy with the default position but my quickview (45 degrees to left) and quickview (45 degrees to right) are messed up. These quickviews work perfectly for all the default planes. How do i fix this for the mooney in the camera.cfg?

Also the mooney quickview does not snap back to the default position after i release/depress the quickview hat button. How to fix this?

Of the top of my head I’m not sure of the order, but you should see six views, with a description ending with L1/R1 etc. From memory I think the order is like this:

L1 R1
L2 R2
L3 R3

So behind, and to the right is R3. Forward left is L1.

What I have noticed is if you delete those views, there appear to be sim default values for all those directions. But they may not be suitable from plane to plane, so these custom ones are used instead.

Mine don’t snap back either.

Thanks for taking the time to explain. Ok i will try delete the two values you mentioned for L1 and R1 and see whether the mooney defaults to the values that all other default planes use

No, don’t do that. What I would do is create adjust the views to the way you want them, then save those as two custom views. 1 for L1, and 2 for R2, for example. Then have a look in your MSFS profile folder for the custom cameras.cfg for the Mooney. This is not in the plane folder, but in you profile folder.

You would want to copy those two lines from one file to the other.

Or you could just edit out that entire section for the L1/R1 views, but whatever you do make a backup copy of that file first.

The settings will only apply if you reload the plane. If you don’t use dev. mode to do this, I’m not sure if even returning to the main menu to start a new flight does it, I don’t remember.

There is a better way of doing this by using dev. mode to load the plane, and edit the camera views from with the SDK, but I’ve never managed to get that to work myself for some reason.

I’m sure its easy, I just couldn’t get it to work. That would be a question to ask in one of the SDK groups.

Managed to do it as per your suggestion

Now my default view, quickview left 45 and quickview right 45 are all correct

The quickview snaps back on button depress too

Thanks!

Press “ALT L”, and a front head light is generated. Press again “ALT L” to switch off this light. Very usefull in cold start.

Why does it seem to impossible for me to find a definitive changelog on the update for the mooney? Anyone have a clue what was changed, etc??

No, and in fact that version has brought bugs for me that the plane didn’t have before. Before the update, the plane was just perfectly functional for me. After the update, I have a couple of bugs. They may be linked to a non up to date version of the GN750, but I doubt it, anyway i need to update it.

ah… havent been simming in a while, will need to update the GPS also.

After Update 5, the KX 165 below and Speed Brakes are not working/responding.
Can anyone verify these with your rig? Thanks.

So far, these are the only issue I have seen for now for this plane. Amazing update with regards to FPS performance.

  • same is true for the fuel tank selector switch … not working.
  • The red beacon flashing light somehow is reflected inside the cockpit from below the plane (where its mounted outside)

Work around for me was to bind a T. Flight Hotas key to “extend spoilers” and one to “retract spoilers”

Speed brakes work but panel light inoperative.
Even with GNS530 mod I cannot highlight a waypoint to select a new direct to.

Any workaround for this?

If not this aircraft is bricked.

Set unlimited fuel for now. Still awesome plane to fly. Carenado already acknowledged and working on the update.
