Carenado Piper Arrow for MSFS to be released imminently

My three favourite planes in MSFS are the Carenado Mooney, Seminole and (surprisingly to me) WACO.

In previous iterations of flight Simulator, I never bought any payware planes, but if Carenado sucks, I can’t wait to see what the others are like.

The FSX/P3D versions of the Mooney and Seminole (and Waco it seems) were sold under the Alabeo brand which seem to come with a better reputation for standard of systems and flight modelling that aircraft sold under the Carenado brand (or so I’m told since they are definitely all the same company).

Whereas the original CT182T was a Carenado branded aircraft and the MSFS version seems to be less well regarded than the others.

I think the 182T loses ground because it is G1000 equipped. Many of us still like the traditional gauges. The other Carenado offerings provide that.

The 182T also loses ground because of the wicked annoying engine sound.

I watched a youtube video of an IRL C182T flight and to me it sounds almost exactly the same as the real thing?

You mean from the interior. The exterior sounds like a lawn mower. This plane buzzes over our area a lot and it sounds nothing like it!

+1. I have the same as you from Carenado. WACO is a favourite too due to sounds (I think).

Ok, i don’t fly much outside of the cockpit i guess.

Oooh at last I understand the arguments against the T182T noise which never made any sense to me … Call me old-fashioned, but I fly my planes from inside the cockpit.
The T182T is the plane I have the most hours on in MSFS … Now I like the (modded) Bonanza as much as the Skylane, but the T182T has qualities no other plane has for my world tour (currently halfway) : it can land (almost) anywhere like a 172, it can cruise at 150 kts at 20k ft, and the high wings give a great view down to the scenery.

Back to the topic, the Arrow : I will wait till they both are out and will probably get one, and if one can be bought outside of the MS Marketplace … well this is a great plus. I was stuck out of my T182T for 2 weeks because of the Asobo ■■■■-ups.

I love the Waco too. It is so beautiful in the cockpit, has great visibility for VFR, is easy (too easy?) to fly, and just has something different about it.

But, do you agree that is has unrealistic (even buggy) handling on takeoff? The dramatic and violent pull to the left when the tail wheel comes up doesn’t seem like it could be real. I’ve been expecting an update with a fix for this. There hasn’t been one, right? If it is a bug, it makes me wonder why Carenado hasn’t fixed it in the nearly 2 months that it has been out.

Carenados Mooney is pretty darn good.

Have you updated it to 1.1? The original release was super squirrely but 1.1 fixed that. You still need to be ready to give it some right rudder.

The patched version is definitely better, not perfect, but better. You need to apply the update in content manager, the patches do not automatically get applied.

Thank you @bdshort550 and @EdamllamaB! I thought sure I had checked my content manager more recently then when this 1.1 update came out! Definite improvement with the ground handling.

Is it in the marketplace now?

YES! Though now I gotta go pick up my daughter from school. Buying it tonight!

No reviews yet?

I hope that the new Carenado’s pricing policy will stay. Everyone was wondering why WACO costs only 25 dollars but seeing that Piper Arrow is also only 25, I think that all new Carenado GAs will cost 25. That is good news and I hope other companies will follow. JustFlight’s arrow is supposed to cost 41. That is a massive difference. I will be waiting for reviews.

I am gonna fly it now… Review up in about an hour.
