Nothing against Carenado, but I find the fit, finish and support level with JF much better usually.
That, and I assume it will be unlocked so it can be fully tinkered with. I’d pay over the odds for that level of access.
Does Carenado provide paint kits for their aircraft? I imagine this to be complicated due to encryption.
JF will include one. And you can replace the wear&tear look by a clean one by copying the texture files. Also impossible with encryption.
Not sure how this will work once it is available via Marketplace as well, but it’s not an option for me anyway to buy there.
Carenado is selling the product as is today and it’s only fair that such product is also judged as is today, not what it may be in a couple of months / patches.
What Carenado releases is completely in their control. End users did not force them to release a buggy product.
Not so sure why there is so much negative sentiment towards Carenado, but I only bought the Mooney. That plane is very enjoyable, especially with the GNS530 mod.
It rather looks like JustFlight forced them, to be the first… It was quite a surprise that they were developing an Arrow as well without announcements far ahead.
It’s not impossible. The texture files are not encrypted. And there is a method for creating liveries for encrypted aircraft.
Basically, you need to copy the panel.cfg file and create a panel.xml file with this line in it (change the path for the aircraft you’re working for)

and include these in the aircraft.cfg and the layout.json. I think you might also have to copy the model files? I do, but, I haven’t tested without them for a while. Asobo constantly changes what they require to be available locally and what they don’t. I dont’ have a full understanding of the virtual file systems and how dependencies work, so I don’t know why.
The decal system Asobo screwed repainters with is still in issue, but it is well known how to turn them off.
I think it’s because visually, Carenado’s planes for all sims look like high end study level planes, so some simmers end up expecting study level accuracy or close to it. However that’s not the price point they’re being sold at and has NEVER EVER been what they do. Also, they tend to release planes with annoying bugs that should have been caught (and may have been) before release.
Also the rotation speed is way faster than what’s indicated in the manual. I pull the stick at 80 kias with one notch of flaps and it still doesn’t want to leave the ground.
Carenado? What a waste of money!
This is why I rarely buy Carenado anymore.
They are known for the release with issues and maybe fix later routine.
So far for FS2020 Carenado have released some good aircraft and if bought in their sale only £15 each. It seems quite common to hear that of the planes currently available that the Mooney is very popular with purchasers. I find the pricing interesting across sites, for example the Trinidad is available from £15 to £25 across various vendors.
Having the Mooney, Seminole and Trinidad means I do not really need the Arrow, but on what I have seen from Carenado for FS2020 I would not hesitate to go with Carenado again.
JustFlight seem to have a good reputation on other sims so I am expecting an excellent addition from them.
So like others have said with the current ones being around £15 the price point has been set and probably for my level of simmer spending over double on a JF plane would not be for me. Of course you get what you pay for it seems and a lot of people want the extra touches and pay the same for a plane, what the basic FS2020 costs, with A2A offerings.
The great thing is that we are seeing lots of options for the various simmer tastes at various price points so everybody should be happy.
I bought it and figured some things would not work for now. That being said the only other issue I am having is the ability to bleed off speed. This thing does NOT want to slow down. I’ve flown Arrow’s, Archer’s, Dakota’s ect and they are not this hard to slow down. Hahaha It takes abrupt and sudden movements to stall. I think they wanted to beat JF on release. I’m just happy there is a Cherokee in the sim now.
I thought it was sticky as well. A distinct reluctance to commit aviation. But I have it loaded with my real world weight (!) and a passenger, so it’s heavy. I didn’t note at what speed it actually unstuck.
Which manual? All I can find are Just Flight ones. Is there a Carenado one somewhere?
The other thing that is causing me grief is that the camera views seem to be broken. At least my POV hat and other buttons aren’t doing what I expected at all. I haven’t bottomed out what’s going on yet.
If you look at the folder in Official where the aircraft is installed, you will find a folder called Documents or something along those lines. That’s where Carenado places manuals for all their aircraft.
So do other Carenado planes. Mfs bug that affect them.
This sounds like Carenado did final acceptance against MSFS before the hotfix that fixed the flaps problem.
