Carenado Piper PA-44 Seminole

Anyone else here gets CTD when trying to fly the PA44 for the first time the PC started/restarted?

Are you applying your paint as decals as opposed to painting the textures?
Are there instructions somewhere on how to create decals for aircraft?
I assume I’d need Substance Painter or Blender and save a new model? Do you have to export using MCX or something to a different format and then reconvert?

Not too tricky.
The panel shares texture file with some of the blue interior I edited, so to avoid getting all my cockpit mods in the default liveries, you can download a black panel only here.
(Read install instructions carefully since it’s not a drag&drop installation)

I painted textures using Substance Painter / Photoshop, therefore 8k to keep lines sharp.
Creating new decal polygons on the 3d model would require some seriously advanced modelling/converting skills, I personally wouldn’t even think about going that route since I don’t know of any non-destructive ways of converting/editing models two-way without messing it up.

Amazing work. Thank you.

Wow!..thanks for the tip. I’m gonna try that.
Cheers! :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyone else noticed that the scala for the barometric altimeter is off? Setting it to the correct QNH will display a differnt altitude than with other planes setting it to the same QNH.

That worked even in aermacchi mb 339…thanks much. That’s a lot smarter than wasting my time complaining why the actual knobs don’t work. Cheers! Thanks for the help!

No problem . I would love to say its my idea but it isnt . I found it on the Avsim forums looked it up and basically copied it to you . Glad to help .

Yes, same with the Mooney, though I haven’t bothered to check in a while.

Interestingly, the version installed is actually 1.3.1. I was watching the files get created hoping to catch an image before they were deleted.

they are having some QA issues, apparently.
had I not paid 30 bucks I’d be laughing.

right now I feel like Melvin Capital with carenado.

Whats QA issues?

It works! (at least for me. Only other Carenado plane installed is the Mooney). The HSI’s CDI to GPS coupling that is. It’s finally alive. (it was totally dead before). Indications are still wrong apparently. Correct me if I’m wrong but NAV should no longer be highlighted in red at the top right after one chooses GPS. Still few minor issues remain to be solved but this proves Carenado is listening.

Some users reported in the past that HSI wasn’t showing ILS indications/info at all. That’s one thing I need to test soon.

Good to see!
I think the discussion was for a non-precision approach if there is a vertical deviation indication. I never used such a HSI irl, but looking into the manual for one there is only ILS mentioned for vertical deviation

It may not have been this particular aircraft, but I’m sure I remember a vertical scale to the left of the HSI, with a Magenta indicator for the glide slope. Maybe the Mooney?

Yup. And they fixed the to/from flag on the OBS for NAV2. But the on/off flags still don’t work properly.

Since I manually edit the apron file to have it default to having the fuel selectors ON even when starting cold and dark, I end up having to delete and reinstall the whole thing, but that’s no biggie. I just have to remember to redo the apron.flt (I think) file change, which is mind-numbingly easy.

I do that because the reality is most owners would leave it that way when parking their aircraft, and because getting my head and mouse positioned just right to turn it on in VR is a PITA. I do the same thing for the baron, and would do it for any other planes that I find that need it done, but I haven’t found any that meet that description just yet. The 172 probably needs to do it, but I just haven’t bothered yet, and I haven’t flown any others (yet) that might, like I suspect (but don’t know for certain) the DA62 would as well.

The reality is that most real world owners would just leave them turned on unless it causes issues like leaks, which I would think would indicate a repair was needed anyway. I always did with mine, the only time my 172 and 172RG’s selector valve left the ā€œbothā€ position was if they did it in the shop.

My HSI still isn’t aligning with the GPS course. Its the only aircraft I have installed and I even deleted the folder and redownloaded, still nothing. Very frustrating.
