there are issues with the electrical system of other planes too, for example the 152’s radios and adf turn on without battery power, the vl3 flaps indicator and second radio dont work as well.

Same issue here. C172 Basic inop. I too have MSFS2020 and MSFS2024 installed. The G1000 glass cockpit version seems to work.
I checked breakers and also looked for loose wiring in the canopy (looked for touch points) without success - I doubt detail goes that far but I still looked. I looked for options to call the battery truck, nada. I noticed the ameter also only showed very minimal drain even with the ignition key in the start position.
Also, I need instruction on how to change the pin to ticked on the luggage compartment and oil dipstick, and how to top it up, if that’s relevant.
same here : I start the fly with engine on. But if I shutdown the engine (for instance with a wrong key on my keybord…) , impossible to retstart
I can also confirm this happening to me.
I have MSFS2024 Premium Deluxe 1.1.9.0 on PC through Steam and Windows 11. No mods installed.
I have followed both the sim’s checklist as well as the actual POH and no luck. Tried deleting the rolling cache, verifying the integrity of the game’s files in Steam and nothing.
I’ve found other inconsistencies in other aircraft like the Cessna 152, specifically the cockpit textures, being able to clip through the nose of the aircraft, non working external parts to inspect (rudder in the case of the 172).
For now I’m using the Basic 152 Aerobat, the cockpit does work normally and it’s the closest to the classic 172 for the time being, a joy to fly really as long as live weather is not active.

Unbelievable. One more bug to put on the pile. One more disappointment (from an MSFS supporter) ;( I’m scratching my head to guess the why of this existing Microsoft-Asobo aircraft not-compatible with its own product.
It’s an existing aircraft from MSFS2020 that haven’t been tested before MSFS202 launch? I would understand to have it not available because of-this or this but releasing it faulty is at least weird.

Even weirder is that I, like many players, paid extra for the Deluxe version just because of this aircraft, and after 10 Days after the release, we still can’t fly it.

So which ones of the 172s is working, at least so you can start it and fly it?
For me, the any of the G1000 172s work, I just can’t get the avionics bus 1 and 2 switches to be activated via my Honeycomb Alpha, but you can activate them via the mouse.
The basic or “Steam Guage” 172 variant will not start even using [CTRL] E. It is almost like the batteries are dead since turning on the Master you get warning lights but nothing else.

Yes, I am. And I didn’t try it until the Saturday following release and it worked at that time. So I never experienced a failure. I wonder if it was fixed by the time I downloaded it and those that got a broken one don’t have any way of getting an update.
Perhaps completely deleting and reinstalling now would fix it. It would be interesting to see if someone would try that.

To say I’m disappointed is an understatement. Like many others here, I only opted for the Deluxe version so I could get a working C172 (and 152). To have so many bugs in this aircraft alone is simply mind-boggling. One can only assume that the release was rushed. A couple more weeks of alpha/beta testing (yet still making the pre-Christmas slot) would have prevented all this grief. Shame on you Asobo, for treating your customers with such disrespect.

I have the Xbox and PC versions. I can confirm that the C172 basic works on the Xbox but not on the PC. I did a repair files on the PC and the C172 basic is still not not working properly. Can’t start engine on the ground and if I start flight in the air, only one Com/Nav/GPS unit is working and cannot do a engine restart in air.

I wonder if the C172 Steam gauge version needs an external battery to charge the electrical system ? There is always a truck that looks like it ihas a portable generator standing next to my C172 when i load into the parking spot [ cold and dark]. Does anyone know if this is the case and what is the keybind for an external batery charge to the C172 ?
The walk-around does not reveal any charging port in the fuselage that is interactive. [to be able to connect a battery cable to]
I concur that the C-172 Basic (i.e non G-1000 versions) electrical system avionics switches do not activate the ADFs, 530, etc. Really how much testing was done before release that the basic plane everyone tries first does not work?
