Did it… and still not working avionics neither start engine
Same issue here. Even if started on runway, no electrical power.
No, that’s not how these airplanes work. Think of the C172 (any version of the C172 in MSFS, they all operate the same in this regard) like a car. They have a battery that starts the engine and an engine-driven alternator that keeps the battery charged due to electrical draw from electrical components in the plane (avionics, lights, radios, flaps, etc.). If the battery is dead, you can’t start the engine (well, technically you could do something very dangerous and hand-prop it, but that’s a bad idea), but you don’t take a plane out with a dead battery, nor would that be a logical scenario for a flight sim.
Sometimes in cold climates (think near or below freezing) airplanes will get plugged into a engine block heater, much like a car block heater, simply to keep the engine warm and make starting easier, but that’s it.
If you have a dead battery, it’s not safe to fly because likely either the battery is gone and won’t charge or your alternator is shot and the last place you want to be with no electrical system is up in the air.
Any truck on the ramp is likely going to be a fuel truck 99% of the time. Sometimes fuel trucks look like small tankers (think round cylindrical tanks) and sometimes they could have a square-ish tank in something as simple as the back of a flatbed pickup.
Clearly the Xbox version is not broken like the PC version is. Somehow they borked the entire electrical system prior to launch and it’s baffling how they haven’t gotten anyone to come around to fixing it yet. But no one is doing anything wrong, this is simply a case of broken/buggy code.
look like they fixed it with the latest update
We have the 172 classic functional.
It is beyond frustrating if this is fixed and not mentioned in the release notes.
Beta testing consisted of loading the plane in cold and dark state and if that didn’t crash the sim, the plane was good to go.
Well I can start the 172 (Classic) now but I CANNOT pop out the GNS 530 or 430 GPS to use with my cockpit hardware.
The right ALT key isn’t giving the + sign icon over the GNS 530/430 screens and Pop Out Panel Manager can’t pop out these screens.
It works fine for the GNS 530 in the Beaver and the G1000 screens in the 172 can be popped out.
Can someone else test with the 172 classic and confirm this behavior?
This is beyond frustrating. We finally have a functioning 172 analog Classic and now I can’t move the GPS screens to my hardware GPS.
Ugh.
Can confirm, C172 Classic’s electrical systems are fully operational now, the Garmin GNS530 & engine work properly.
It’s out of the hangar & waiting, people!
Now, anybody knows if WBSim’s C172 enhancement mod work in MSFS2024?
As I understand it the Asobo aircraft being streamed to us in MSFS 2024 are currently encrypted and can’t be modded so WBsim 172 won’t work.
Tested it, and not popping out any of the instruments. Ugh! indeed.
I filed a bug report if you want to up vote it.
Now that we have the 172 Classic almost 100% functional, please help with this bug report to fix this annoying issue that occurs every time we start a free flight.
Oh that’s a shame, but thank you for the info.
It’s great that the classic Cessna 172 has a working electrical system now. Now, if only I could have the aircraft have sound effects (engine or otherwise), that would be even greater! Well, there is always the next patch, I suppose …
EDIT: running FS2024 as an administrator seems to have fixed the sound issue.
I just read here that the classic C-172 start issue seems to have been resolved with the latest update…HURAHHH!!
You know what I’ll be doing after work
Yeah. I can confirm. No more issues on this side. Probably a silent cloud patching.
Starts great now, but these are the bindings you need to get the avionics and fuel pumps to work. Some people had issues knowing which action to bind these to.
Ok, since last update, the electric system is working and it’s possible to start up… BUT the mapped switches buttons that I use in my home cockpit for Avionics bus 1 and 2 are not still not working…
I can flip them with the mouse but not in my cockpit. (And it works in the C182).
Also, the baro rotary encoder is not moving (but mapped) , only with mouse.
And the trim is still inverted somehow when I use air manager (same script than in fs2020) but literally in the opposite direction, for all aircraft.
