Cessna Citation CJ4 Issues and Support

It may be a bit more complicated though - I’ve seen third party devs suggesting that MSFS updates have changed key parameters that have affected the feel of their FMs, which makes it difficult for them too..
Having said that, I really enjoyed the whole feel of the WT CJ4 flight mode, and now it’s just become a bit of a twitchy and unpredictable aircraft. I can’t seem to achieve consistent results with it at the moment so I can’t say that I look forward to approach and landing - instead, there’s a sense of trepidation, if that makes sense?

Are you having issues with something specifically? The CJ4 isn’t exactly a very complicated aircraft.

Loading flight plan for ILS, no magenta line on map, and if you do get one goes off track flying in circles. Nav/approach button works when it wants to. I could deal with the sluggish throttle but this needs to be fixed. Even if they could fix it so you can dial in the localizer like most planes I’d be happy. I’m not the only one on this forum who has problems. Originally after the mandatory download which should’ve been optional, I did a uninstall, reinstall, thinking the file was corrupted. Which wasn’t long because I had to do it through Xbox. Buttons are too small to load the flight plan through that small fms through Xbox with no zoom. They need to do better. We spend a lot of money on this no warning no paperwork to get started.

If I can around to it later would it help if I made a video for you?

Tried it again today. The flight model is unfortunately completely unusable for me. Hypersensitive and nervous at the slightest movement. Landing in a crosswind has become impossible for me. And this after several hundred hours that I flew the CJ4 WT with pleasure in all weather conditions. And I did not change anything on my hardware. How can a flight model become so seriously different?
I really hope that something will happen in the future. For me at the moment, as far as the flight model is concerned, it means: “From hero to zero”. I am really very sad about it, because it is otherwise a great plane. I keep on hoping

It would really be appreciated, thank you. I looked at one video already but because of the fact I can’t zoom in. It’s hard to see the buttons.

If it was my video, try watching again. I just checked and processing looks to have finished so it will play in full 4k60, which should make the buttons easier to read. I specifically covered the “no magenta line” issue you mentioned earlier and how you can easily address it.

If the above doesn’t help I will make a video setting up a flight from Fryeburg to Presque Isle.

Oops, I just realized I misread @mainepatriots post about zooming in. I thought it was in reference to zooming in on my video, but now I’m thinking zooming in on their own controls in the Xbox.

For that, look at the control options for the camera. I have mine set that pressing and holding the upper left shoulder button activates free look (I think it’s the setting name, I’m not at the sim at the moment). With that held in, the left joystick moves the camera position, the right stick rotates the camera as usual, and the left and right triggers will lower and raise the camera respectively. That should allow you to put the camera anywhere you need in the cockpit.

Now if only you could “walk” it to the back of the plane to ride in the passenger seat this way. You can do it in drone mode by clipping through the plane, but it doesn’t stay put relative to the plane as it gets buffeted by the wind in flight.

Great intro video for folks learning the CJ4. I wonder if on approach the twitchiness improves at a slower speed. Your Vapp was about 40 knots below your actual speed at touchdown, which might explain some of that.

Maybe, but others are reporting this twitchiness in general, even in regular flight.

unless your talking about something different, cabin lights are above, pan up and click on chevrons next to the 3 dome lights and you can adjust brightness on however many you need,

Those are labeled cabin lights, but are cockpit lights in function. The earlier comments were referring to the passenger cabin lighting, which sounds like they are not switchable. I think they are activated via tripping the emergency light system, but I haven’t explored that possibility yet. I know I saw them on once, so this may be a way to cheese the system.

with Xbox I have no passenger view, unless that’s something else I haven’t figured out yet. I’m just flying around in a cockpit!

Same on PC, unless you use the drone cam to clip through the plane.

I’ve flown the AAU1 CJ4 almost exclusively the last few days, in varying conditions, attempting to adjust to its changes. Unfortunately I’m having difficulty enjoying the experience as compared to the prior standalone WT mod, which I loved and flew often. I realize WT’s dismantling and rebuilding this aircraft and avionics was, among other things, an exercise intended to introduce more realism into this bird. That said, I’m having difficulty believing the real thing flies anything close to this new representation. It now feels closer to to a light prop plane than a far heavier business jet. It also exhibits the same horizontal ‘tail wagging’ effect in the slightest crosswind, as many of the other default light aircraft also do since WU11, among its many other ‘sensitivities.’ Landing the jet smoothly is now mostly luck for me due to its oddball behavior in the ground effect and other wind and force-related factors. I do hope improvements are planned in the future, as in its present state I’d rather fly something else quite frankly, no disrespect intended to the prolific WT team that has brought us so much already.

On the subject of avionics, I get it, many of the previous WT mod features simply do not exist in the real systems and have been left out accordingly. I’ve adjusted to these as required and really have no problem with this, other than missing some very user friendly features that existed in the prior mod, realism notwithstanding. The most frustrating part for me was understanding what no longer exists, as I keep looking for things that no longer seem to be there. A list of what is now not included, in comparison to the prior mod, would have been very helpful.

This aircraft has come way too far to simply abandon it and I remain hopeful that it will once again regain its past glory. It would be great to know that some of the many user comments in this thread will be taken to heart by the team and acted upon.

Trying to find the wind speed and direction “toggle” after the AAU1, specifically on the CJ4. I’ve searched and searched with no success. I see in some videos it exists; but I cannot figure out how to gain access to this option…

Thank you for the tip on the zoom button. Never thought of looking there. By the way, I thought it was on my controller somehow.

I’m enjoying the quality of the new CJ4, although I do miss the charts, checklists etc. Still seeing issues with double-loaded SID & STAR waypoints from flight plans imported to the World Planner from an external source.

BUT as with others on this thread with extensive experience of the previous CJ4 I have to agree that the aircraft does not handle well - it is too sensitive in the pitch axis.

Stabilised approaches are fine and readily possible and unlike one previous poster, I found the drag from flaps 15 plenty. But executing the flare is not great- flaps 35 produces more lift than with the mod version and that coupled with the pitch sensitivity makes it real easy to balloon and float the flare. Likewise rotation feels off. I must have about 300 hours on the old WT CJ4 and have set up custom curves and dialed back reactivity on the pitch. I’ll keep tuning. But it seems like something that needs a bit of consideration. The old WT CJ4 was a dream to hand fly.

Edit: After a good deal more flying, and following the advice given, I’m finding this version a joy to fly as well. Landings do require a particular technique and no big flare or sudden chop in power. Take-offs are fine - there is a little nose drop between the front wheel lifting off and the main geat, but just pull back through it. Pitch axis is sensitive, but I like the fact that the pitch is sensitive to thrust - few aircraft in the sim get this right. The CJ4 is one of them now.

Well I read through all the posts and did learn a few things. thank you for that!
A couple other things that I have not seen mentioned still remain problems for me:

  1. STBY FTL Display turns on but no longer illuminates
  2. On the FMC the “IDX/Next Page/ Arrival Data” is not available even after the SID and STAR as well as ILS Approach are selected. I liked that feature simply for telling me the threshold elevation of the arrival Rwy. ( Yes I know I could pull the charts or look on LittleNavMap, but the arrival data page was just handy.
