Cheaper Upgrade to Premium / Deluxe packs

Yes. It would be unfair. But is it not already unfair that people who paid for premium content discovered it to be less than fully functional? And is it not also unfair that higher prices are now being asked for increasingly non functioning premium content? I am a great supporter and advocate for this sim, but, there are arguably some glaring errors of judgement in the way in which it has been brought to the market. My post was intended to get us thinking about that.

Then maybe the model should be a pay per airport or pay per aircraft. I would like the Cirrus, and would pay a reasonably priced for it. But not a large upgrade for the stuff I do not want. Anyway, enough chat. If the servers are on I have some flying to do.

Well, happily we can agree to disagree as to how incomplete or otherwise it was upon release.
Realistically though, to buy into a new sim thinking it would be bug free, is well…

This has always been the way of all things software, even ‘simple’ programs.
Frustrating yes. But perhaps and until AI makes a generational leap or two forward, no’one is
is going to tell you anything different.

I think your last remark is telling here:

Yes, my 500 plus hours in the sim do speak volumes above my misgivings. And yes, we can agree to disagree and be agreeable in the process. We are fellow enthusiasts here.

One thing I will disagree on. It has not always been that way in the industry. I owned one of the very first addon companies for flight sim around 25 years ago. I never accepted releasing with bugs.

Regards my friend.

Not sure that I agree with everything that you say. However, I like your attitude and it is good that we can agree to disagree on some issues without any bad feeling.

And, yes, enough chat. Let’s get flying.

Have a great day.

How about Osobo / Microsoft issue us all “Aerosoft Credit” ..

(1) So we can get a plane that flies.
(2) So we can test the new Aerosoft Planes …

Hello Guys,

Can you buy the remaining content? I have the deluxe version, can you go up to the premium deluxe for the remaining fee?

Thanks,
Chrios

Yes, there is a marketplace option accessible from the main menu.

so that is accurate? £79 to get the last version? not really the outstanding amount! hah!

I think Microsoft want to punish people who bought the lesser versions by really gouging them if they want to later upgrade.

Price in AUD if you bought each version

  • $99.95 - Standard version
  • $139.95 - Deluxe version (+ $40 over std)
  • $179.95 - Premium Deluxe version (+$80 over std, or +$40 over deluxe)

I bought the standard version for $99.95, but if I look in the marketplace, MS lists 3 upgrade options but it looks like I could only buy 2 of those.

  • $108.38 - Deluxe upgrade
    • adds the 5 planes (incl Baron) and 5 airports included had you bought the Deluxe edition.
    • would therefore upgrade from you from std to deluxe
    • the original $40 extra now becomes a hefty $108.38 extra
  • $115.16 - Premium Deluxe upgrade
    • adds 10 planes (incl Baron and 787) and 10 airports included had you bought the Premium Deluxe edition.
    • this upgrades from std to premium deluxe
    • the original $80 extra becomes $115.16 extra
  • $135.48 - Premium upgrade
    • in spite of the highest price, this only adds 5 aircraft (incl 787) and 5 airports
    • this appears to upgrade from Deluxe to Premium Deluxe
    • the original $40 extra over the Deluxe now becomes an astonishing $135.48 extra.

Who comes up with this pricing? And they must really hate the people who bought the Deluxe and want to upgrade to Premium Deluxe.

And one last bit of weirdness, I bought MSFS on Steam, but can’t buy any upgrades on Steam. (Maybe Steam found Microsoft’s upgrade pricing too difficult to understand so didn’t offer it)

If I bought the $59.99 version of the game on Steam and I want to upgrade to the Premium Deluxe version, I would need to spend an extra $119.99.

This upgrade should cost me from;

  • Standard to Deluxe, $30.
  • Standard to Premium Deluxe, $60.

Charging people full price for an upgrade is a scummy business practice.

I suggest you save your money for the decent payware planes, or wait for a discount on the upgrade. Other than the airports (which I think are available for free or from 3rd parties as well already) the extras bring very little to the table, at the moment at least.

But what’s baffling is that MS/Asobo themselves didn’t see the value in offering an easy upgrade path. That could’ve been a sizable revenue boost from players like myself who first wanted to see how much they enjoyed the game, but then would’ve happily paid a reasonable fee to upgrade to a higher version.

I just checked the MS Store, and it still says the upgrades are not available. Frankly I’m surprised they haven’t sorted this yet. It’s probably a marketing decision.

I think you can upgrade for less than 119.99 through the marketplace. It is stll more than if you bought the bundle, but not the full price. I think around $80 so you end up paying like $135-140 . But that was the enticement to get the bundle discount. To buy the upgrades separatly later will cost a little more.

I think they may have added an option to just buy Premium without the deluxe add ins though. But I’ve only seen the upgrades in the marketplace. Only bundles in the store.

In the in game marketplace it shows around US$90 (ZAR 1469) for the premium deluxe upgrade.

Frankly, I was surprised they didn’t offer upgrade discount for the release anniversary. I’d probably upgrade with 25-30% off.

Sounds fair.

So long as those of us who paid for the Premium Deluxe edition get a release anniversary refund.

ROFLMAO

It is absolutely normal for any game to get cheaper as time goes on. Look at current sales on Steam: RDR2 for example is 33% off. Would you ask for rebate if you bought it on release full price? Don’t be silly, mate
