Cheaper Upgrade to Premium / Deluxe packs

…silly is expecting Microsoft to offer a discount when there is no need to do so, on a top selling product.

Well, RDR2 is a top selling product as well, yet Rockstar started offering discounts within first year after release. You do realize that discounts is one of the ways to increase sale figures?

I would also buy the premium deluxe update, but ~ 100€ is really to high.

The funny thing: In steam MSFS was on sale, basic for ~55€ and premium deluxe for ~95€. That means when buying it new, Microsoft already gave away the premium deluxe content for ~40€.
So why is there no sale for the upgrade? They could get quite some money by selling the upgrade (at sales) for the same price as if you would buy the initial editions…

Best decision I made when MSFS first released was to buy the standard version, and it is still my best decision. There was only one airport that I would have liked that was not included in the standard version and that has now been hand-crafted better than the Asobo version by a third party developer, and it is free. Also better aircraft are available from third party devs.

I see no reason to pay the high price of an upgrade.

You get the same bugs regardless of the price you pay.

That’s just how the world works:

Buy a standard car for €10,000, take up the option to add a sunroof for €1,000 = €11,000 total.

Buy a car for €10,000 and then decide to add a sunroof later and it’ll cost you and extra €2,000 = €12,000 total.

Agreed
Microsoft advertised discounts on their social media accounts many times. But those discounts were not MS’s but 3rd parties’.
I always find it it strange

Yes but you don’t have to pay for the car again.

I wouldn’t mind trying the Citation Longitude, but, I’m also stuck in upgrade hell. Not paying for the game all over again for one aircraft - that I’ve since heard is pretty average. Would love to see someone like Working Title or Flybywire take this one under their wing for some tlc. I’d buy it.

Come on, Microsoft. Stop punishing people who want to upgrade.

Can’t agree more!

If there is a discount available for new customers, why not provide at least the same 25% discount for those that want to upgrade!

I bought MFS Standard edition ( boxed ) as soon as it became available here in Portugal.

Upgrades into Deluxe and Premium Deluxe versions became available, but the prices for the upgrade were way above the differential price from the Standard version… Now I don’t even see those upgrades available anymore?

Anyway, the purpose of this post is asking MS / Asobo to reconsider the possibility of upgrading a user license into the Deluxe or Premium Deluxe versions, even if only one upgrade is made available at the net differential price.

I believe I would upgrade into Premium Deluxe if I had the chance.

The upgrade should still be available. You find it in the in game Marketplace. Let us know if you are still having trouble finding it.

more expensive is one thing but here is what people may be getting at

i payed 90 bucks for the Medium version (at the time i could not afford the 120 bucks)
so i left a 30 dollar dlc on the table - i had hoped i could upgrade later (even if it cost me double, i expected 50-60 bucks)

but yea that simply is NOT going to happen when they expect Another 90 bucks for the 30 dollar upgrade
and frankly i dont believe other games try to jack 3 times the upgrade for after the original sale purchases
i would have to see a link with prices to buy that, in my 30 years of gaming ive not seen any ‘addon or dlc’ that cost as much as the “Upgraded game” i bought (it costs More than the base game price)

remember i didnt buy the base game, for those that bought the base game its not As Bad - they get a 60 dollar value for 90 (for a total buy in of 150), thats not unreasonable imo
but expecting me to pay the Same 90 bucks for only the 30 dollar value? (total buy in of 180)
NOT HAPPENING

…or perhaps this one:

The Xbox and PC Game Pass subscriptions each includes the MSFS Standard Edition (SE) for $9.99/month. I pay $14.99/month for the Ultimate Game Pass subscription which still only includes MSFS SE. What?! Not sure why the Ultimate subscription level only includes the SE but, hey, I could fork out another $90 to upgrade to Premium Deluxe.

Wow - what’s wrong with this picture?

Maybe because you’re buying an upgrade for a rented (Gamepass) app… If you decided to cancel your subscription to Gamepass you’d be left with a useless upgrade because you would no longer have access to the base app.

I suppose if they made that clear it wouldn’t be a problem.

The point he was making is the Premium Deluxe should be included with the game pass. If you stop paying for the game pass, you lose all of it. That is the purpose of paying for the game pass. In the end, they would make their money back due to the ones paying for the game pass because it is a subscription. If they don’t, they have nothing to worry about because the customer lose the games if they decide to cancel the membership.

I guess in the in, they feel like the customer would only keep the gamepass for 1 year (at least). Hypothetically speaking, they get 50% back from using the gamepass, then the customer would own the game after 1 yr. So they add the SE version cause they assume you keep gamepass for 1 yr. Sucks but I guess it is what it is.

The upgrades are on sale at the moment, Premium Deluxe for 55€.

If I own MSFS 2020 Standard Edition on Steam and I preorder MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe, will I instantly get access to Premium Deluxe planes in MSFS 2020?

I don’t think it works like that.

My understanding is that FS20 Premium Deluxe planes will be avalable in FS24 Premium Deluxe.

But since FS24 is not an upgrade to FS20, it seems to me you’d need to upgrade FS20 to the Premium Deluxe edition.
