Mine won’t stop spinning and won’t load the game.
Since MFS launch the new update 1.17.3 freezees the performance of the game checking updates and does’t work. I have have unistall the game, update windows, game services, and install it again… and stops checking updates again.
My too. This is only the second time I’ve had and issue with updates.
The stuck one crashed to desktop. I then ran Flight Simulator from the Windows Search box as Administrator and it is now updating OK. Maybe coincidence, maybe not.
I am having problems with Checking for Updates' every time I start. It stops on this screen and won't move on. When I close it down it is still active in
Background Services’ and I have to close it down with task manager. If I delete the community folder the programme loads up fine. Is there a limit as to how much the `Community Folder’ can hold because if i find I remove unused
airfields it wil eventually load.
Could we not have Checking for Updates checking say once a week?

I would suggest to look at what those add-ons are that you have, I’ve found some google maps imports can cause this.
Are you placing items directly into the community folder? Or do you use add on linker?
I am not using any Google maps, but like i say if I remove a couple of unsued airfields I have created it works, which is weird. I use the community folder directly
It may be better to use add on linker then. You can just deselect items as it creates symbolic links to the community folder, that way you will be able to find the culprit easier, rather than deleting downloads.
Maybe that there is a problem with one of your created airports that is causing a block from the sim loading.
Do you have many add ons in the folder?
Not sure if this helps, but I see you have 2 instances of Gaming Services running. I’ve found in the past, if you delete one of the running instances, it can correct loading issues. Worth a try…

I dont know if you are willing to do this but the only way I could get past the screen you are showing was to delete the Microsoft Flight Simulator folder from my c:\users\your username\appdata\roaming folder. Now it is at least doing a reinstall for me. Before this i couldnt update or even reinstall. Hope this helps you.
I have got passed the update screen,I already had MSFS installed prior to update (moved my community folder downloads prior to update.) Its now been 75 hours and downloaded just over 153 GB and still says its downloading? I never uninstalled my original MSFS 2020 files.
I decided to restart machine after installing SU5 and on launch MSFS is stuck on checking for updates. CPU and GPU are idle. looks to be frozen. i tried restarting again to no avail. Please dont tell me i have to reinstall this again? thx
I can’t even DL SU5. It tells me the server is down.
had this happen several times..I don’t have a clear solution but have tried with an empty Community folder and I think that might work.
my community folder is empty. i think it may be just the server being unresponsive since it’s stuck on checking for updates. Wish it was possible to completely disable updates in this game.
Same here within last five minutes.
Same for me. Server issue then?
Yep, same here. must be a server issue :-/
I have the same problem!!!
Same here. Community folder empty.
