ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: ATC choices not seen on window.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue? Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
During this current flight I have seen it 3 times now.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Close Communications window
  2. Wait for ATC to give you a command
  3. Open window and observe no choices
  4. Note: this seems to be occurring when being asked to change frequencies during a hand-off after I’ve not heard ATC’s voice communication (literally no audible ATC voice, not because I wasn’t paying attention and missed it.)

• It is worse now, because even after tuning the radio I do not get a choice to contact ATC on the new frequency. Hot keys for ATC choices are not recognized when it is in this state.

Just happened to me. In the 172 as well for career mode. Also tried manually moving the frequencies similar to the above but nothing changes. My findings match Nixon’s.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:
While using the Communication tool during a flight to “talk” to ATC, after a while the menu choices disappear. You can still see the text of the communication in the box but you can’t select a menu option to respond, select a new airport, cancel flight following, etc.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:
All aircraft tried to date (I picked the C172 because that’s what I’ve used most so far.)

Yes.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Most flights - probably all but I don’t always talk to ATC. I’m always in Freeflight.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Start a Freeflight.
  2. Use the Communication tool to engage ATC.
  3. After a while, note you can no longer interact with the Communication system.
    I’ve noticed this most often after acknowledging a change to a different controlled air space.

It happened to me 2 times today when landing in my career mode. I couldn’t request to park and I got a foul for leaving the runway without requesting to park.

Happens to me on Xbox on each flight in Free Flight, somewhere after mid flight, between switch from Center to arrival airport Tower. Changing frequency manually to arrival airport tower does not help. ATC UI buttons stop showing and there is no sound between ATC and other traffic.

But, as long as I never connect to Center, just fly and near arrival connect to airport Tower directly, it’s fine.

Happens intermittently for me too.

Didn’t use to happen, now it’s happening to me too and there doesn’t seem to be a way to fix this

ATC was very buggy in 2020 and no attempt was made to improve it. 2024 suffers from the same intermittent voice drops out that we endured in 2020. I also had the problem of disappearing options in 2020, but it occurred a lot less in 2020 than it does in 2024.

If you turn on the AI ATC assistance, I note that occasionally the co-pilot will make contact with ATC and choices will reappear. However, they do also disappear again.

I always use the AI for ATC, but this doesn’t help the problem when you are left with no ATC options to select. I’ll have to try turning it off next time I have problems and see if it improves things.

Right, I get that. I just noted that when I lost choices, I turned on the ATC AI copilot. After flying a short while, suddenly he radioed to ATC and established contact with the new frequency. I opened the Communications window, and I could see choices again. I closed it again and, later, when I wanted to contact an airport for landing clearance, the choices were gone again.

Guess the solution could be that it’s the toggling of this feature that gets it working again. Rather than if it is on or off. Definitely worth a try, so thanks for this tip.

This happens to me too. My workaround is if I set the frequency manually the choices for responses reappear.
