Brief description of the issue:

The graphics really stuttered when on the ground. As it is, I am averaging 49.0 fps on a 7900xt/5800xRyzen/, even though I am at FL300

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Start a flight on the ground from cold and dark, see what the smoothness is, check FPS.

I think so. Ever since installing SU13 beta, I see very significant (~1s long) stutters on my relatively high-end PC. (7950X3D, 32GB 6000 RAM, RTX 4090, 2TB SSD).

I have tried using MSFS in safe mode so all add-ons are disabled, ensured there are no external utilities that use SimConnect, and yet the stutters persist. I tried enabling dev mode and the FPS view and it looks like main thread latencies spike off the charts whenever there is a stutter.

Yes, even with no mods on a high end system (13900K/4090) with or without Frame Generation, DX11 or DX12 seeing significant stuttering every few minutes that last for roughly 1 second. Also during the stuttering any popped out gauges also black out / refesh totally during the stutter. Sound doesn’t seem to be impacted when it happens.

Running latest nvidia drivers.

This is far worse performance than before - seeing significant stuttering that was not happening with full mod in SU12.

I am on a 4090, i9-13900k, 32gb DDR5 and having the same issues as others; it stutters every 10 seconds or so. More noticeable at airports (any USA airport) and still happens during cruise as well.

Please look into this!!

The game stutters every 5-10 seconds, it freezes for 0.5-1s

I’m using DX12 with both DLSS and Frame Generation, but disabling both of them doesn’t make a difference.

I have an i5-13600k, 32GB of DDR5 6000MT/s and a 4070ti with a 2TB 980Pro NVMe SSD. The stutters happen both when I’m flying over photogrammetry and normal terrain, both at low altitudes and high altitudes (it happens even at 275kft in the Darkstar). I have disabled the rolling cache (which caused stutters when flying over photogrammtery)

3090, 11900, using Trackir and getting noticeable stuttering while looking around. Mainly on or near the ground at airports.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes, since updating to SU13 I get this half second pause over a random time period which looks to be 30 to 120 seconds

DX12, latest nvidia driver at time of publishing this bug report. 4090/13700K

The video by HammerAce42 is what mine is like but mine last half as long.

Do you all use DX12? Is this a DX12 problem?

I haven’t noticed that it got worse, but I have a 11 year old CPU, so I’m used to a few stutters now and then.

I am seeing these issue 100% on DX12, Frame Gen on with RTX4080. I rolled back to the non-beta but may attempt to come back into the Beta and give it a fresh attempt with DX11. If I do I will report back in the next day or two - hopefully if its any longer than that a new fix will drop!

Yes, I have been having studders not for the last couple updates. The issue is so bad I can not even fly int he sim anymore. I wanted to see if anything I did could stop the studders, they are about every 10 seconds and lag it so bad you cant really control the aircraft. I started at 7S3 A really small airport. I turned the graphics to low end, turned off multi player. turned off traffic. uninstalled everything in the content manager that it would allow me to. turned off multiple screens. and it still has issues I have 60-100 fps. If I click on developers mode and turn on fps it says limited by main thread every time it lags.

This is far worse performance than before my computer specs are I7 9700 3.00ghz overclocked
64gb ram
2080 super gpu
it use to run the sim with no issues unless i went to a huge airport ie KSEA and would only lag once maybe twice.

Tried both DX11 and DX12, still seeing the same issue in both tbh.

I’m also getting these stutters.
DX11 and DX12, latest and previous nVidia drivers.
Multiple aircraft 787, A2A Comanche, PMDG 737.
Live weather on and off.
Multiple locations default and addon. Also get the stutters mid-air away from airports.
I’ve turned down my graphics settings (3070ti) and still get the same stutters.
I’ve also reduced the LOD settings, still the same.
exe.xml loads - FSUIPC 7 (latest free version), A2A helper (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t), Fenix bootloader

also getting stutters, thought it was the fenix 320 but its happening on all aircraft for me. Whats strange is that sometimes it completely disappears even if I havent changed my msfs config, could this be server-side?

Yes, although I am finding that performance seems to drop off after 30 mins or so. Seems pretty distinct in happening since the beta.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

I get a sort of lag/pause that causes the framerate to drop periodically. Can be variable to reproduce as it seems to more often happen once a flight is longer than 30 mins or so. Happens in stock aircraft and 3d party. i9@5.0, 32GB, Nv3080Ti driver 536.99, DX12 DLSS, WMR VR Reverb G2

I’ve seen the issue before, but it may have gotten worse in 1.34.10.0.
Issue is solved for me as soon as I hit active pause, returns immediately after unpause. Usually stutter returns very perdiodically every ~20 to ~60 frames for a few frames.

I left the beta because I couldn’t stand the stutters.

Just a thought…

But one thing that I seemed to notice while I was on it, is that when I moved my head (as sensed by my Tobii head tracker) it seemed to trigger a stutter. There were plenty of other stutters with Tobii disabled as well, just seemed worse with head tracking.

Is there any correlation?

FWIW… 5800x3d, 4090, 32GB ram, 3x TVs for multi monitor view, Tobii head tracker.

Of course but that has always been the case. When you move your head/pan camera, new scenery has to be rendered which put extra load onto your system. This will be more pronounced if you don’t have much system headroom to start with - you hit the limit for those few seconds hence the stutter.

I also left the beta due to the stuttering…just too much for me.

I also noticed more stuttering when turning my head (TrackIR), but after leaving the beta…no more stuttering even when turning my head.

Yeah, of course there’s always been a higher load when panning around. They added a graphics setting to keep stuff in memory rather than cull it. This was quite a few updates ago. That works pretty well.

The issue is with SU13 beta only. Having rolled back to the main release (…8), there’s no stuttering.

My 4090 has plenty of VRAM, so that’s not the issue.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Similar - fairly frequent stuttering in flight, particularly over town/city scapes.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

Stuttering prior to installing the beta was very rare, with it its fairly common and seems to be associated with loading/rendering buildings as they can be seen to pop-in during the stutters.
