City and Other Landmark Names

One of the reasons I bought this beautiful simulator was to get used to the different landmarks when navigating and I’d love to see the city and town names (and maybe lakes, mountain range names, etc.). Since Bing is the underlying technology, couldn’t city/place names show up (with their own symbol) the same way airports and major cities do now?

I sometimes fly over regions that have many townships that are packed together and there is no easy way to tell which place I am flying over.

Under the assistance menu option you can expand the ‘Navigation Aids’ list. In there you have options to show names of cities, points of interest, airports, and other things.

DigitalHype,

Yes, I have City Markers turned on but only get about 5% of city name displayed.

Hopefully the list will grow?

Would be cool and as the icing on the cake the names of boroughs as well. Would be nice to see where Manhatten ends and Queens starts, hehe. And since we are already on it why not river names as well. That’s probably something for 3rd party devs but i’d buy it for sure. But most importantly it has to be on an on/off key, so whenever curiosity overwhelms us we can easily switch it on and off.

How about an external map that show up in the sim
Flight Events (events.flighttracker.tech)?

I have city markers turned on but nothing shows so I use Little Nav Map on a second monitor and that helps you to know where you are. The embedded VFR map would be a lot better if it showed city names and poi as a option.
I would also like a street map overlay option on the globe planning map.

Imagine airspace violations had consequences, lol. Accidentally crossing the border of a country without IFR clearance and suddenly a MiG appears on your left wing. At least country names would be nice

The bridges in the update are flat and listless: Verrazzano, GW, Tappanzee/Cuomo. Any third party mods available?

Hello everyone, I’m a glider pilot and I would like to use Microsoft’s simulator (2024) to familiarize myself with the terrain and the names of the places I visit. Specifically, the names of cities (even small ones), rivers, and mountains. What would you recommend?

Thanks!!!

Moved to World Discovery that is more appropriate.
