When first opening MSFS SU2, community folder pointed to a default location.
I have my community folder in a custom path, so I went to My Library and changed community folder to my custom folder, then restarted.
When starting MSFS SU2 again, addons are not loaded, and when I go to My Library again, in settings, I see “Packages transfer to a new storage is in progress”:
Yes, at first I configured C:\MSFS\Community, then I saw that it looked addons in C:\MSFS\Community\Community and then configured C:\MSFS (which then used the .\Community inside there). Then I get that weird message of package transfer in pgoress and no addon is loaded at startup.
This has also happened to me, booted up the game yesterday to find none of my addons had loaded at all despite them all being in the community folder I set ages ago E:\MFS24\Community. For some reason unknown to me a new community folder has suddenly been created in
“C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community” and has been set as the new default, its extremely irritating, In my experience nobody ever puts their community content folder that can often reach hundreds of Gigabytes in size in their C: drive and for very good reason that’s insane so the fact the game is always trying to switch it back is maddening
After going into the game and attempting to switch it back in the library settings I have just been sat on “Packages Transfer to new storage Is In Progress.” ever since.
This is utterly infuriating and I cant seem to get past it
and the worst is that restarting the sim, you still see the “Packages transfer to new storage in progress”, it doesn’t finish, and you can’t even change the folder again.
You are right.
FS2024 put your Community folder on your E: drive.
The C: drive file is a Symbolic link to the physical location of the folder.
Mine is on my K: drive.
K:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-2997017442-1106904157-1831008082-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
Check your E: drive.
It is there.
Well, FS2024 put its (the) Community folder there on the E: drive.
You may need to replace it there with your Community folder.
Having your community folder on your C: drive isn’t a problem if you use Addons Linker. You can store your files on any drive and use AL to link to them. If you DON’T use Addons Linker, then no, that’s not a good idea.
Thanks, but my post was to know if I had something wrong on my end or it’s a SU2 thing, and if it’s a SU2 I prefer to wait for a fix.
Agreed that community folder on C: drive is not ideal, but I have almost a TB of disk free space and a relatively small dozens of GB in community folder, so this has nothing to do with the problem.
Still don’t understand why my original post problem is happening if it’s a SU2 thing (I don’t see too much people reporting it)
You should not choose the Community folder itself — instead, you need to select the folder one level above it.
So if your Community folder is located at G:\MSFS_2024\Community
then you should select G:\MSFS_2024 as the correct path notG:\MSFS_2024\Community
You should be selecting the parent folder, for example, MSFS, not MSFS > Community so in this case, the issue is on your end — the mistake was selecting the Community folder directly.
As for “Packages transfer to new storage is in progress”, I’m not exactly sure what causes it. However, after selecting the correct parent folder (not the Community folder itself), that message shouldn’t appear.
I started MSFS SU2 for the first time. I realized community folder location was reset to a default location.
I changed the community folder from the library settings to C:\MSFS\Community and restarted the sim. (Yes, this was my bad, I thought I had to select the folder itself, not the parent at that time.
When I restarted and realized no addons were loaded, I went to library settings again, hit “browse”, and confirmed it was pointing to C:\MSFS\Community\Community.(Still no store transfer message appears)
Then I changed again the location to C:\MSFS, which is the parent folder, then restarted. This is when the message of storage tranasfer started.
After starting, no addons loaded again, and when I go to library settings I keep seeing the weird message. Folder is correctly set to C:\MSFS still.
That’s why I don’t see anything wrong on my end (except the initial wrong location that was corrected afterwards)
Don’t know really, will try uninstalling/installing again.
As for “Packages transfer to new storage is in progress”, I’m not exactly sure what causes it. However, after selecting the correct parent folder (not the Community folder itself), that message shouldn’t appear.

ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
This problem has been happening since last SU2 update
If I change the ‘Community’ default location to another location (eg. D:\MSFS2024\Community), the system will pop up a folder select window again and again. about 10 times of select same location the pop-up window can be closed, and the system pages stayed to say ‘Packages transfer to new storage is in progress’ for a very long time, and then, my 4T, almost empty driver, became full. I check that there is a new temp folder created under the Community folder and with very large files inside.
If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue?
[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
YES, tried to remove everything. nothing changed.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every time when I try to point the Community folder to other drive than default C:\
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
Go to Market
Go to My Library
Click the upper right gear icon. Then change the location to any other driver.
I’ve had a request from the Development Team to ask for some further information regarding this, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
For those reporting this issue, please could I ask if you could send me a DM on the forums uploading your UserCfg.opt file for the team to analyse.
MS Store users can find this file here: C:\Users*YourUsername*\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Limitless_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
Steam users can find this file here: C:\Users*YourUsername*\AppData\Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024\UserCfg.opt
Could I also ask for feedback as to whether you have noticed any Temp folders being created in the folder that you are attempting to point your Community folder to, or any other location such as the default Community folder location. A screenshot if so would be great!
Guys, please note that the Usercfg.opt file does not contain any sensitive information, so you can safely attach it in this thread. Your contribution will assist both the development team and fellow users in troubleshooting the issue. If you’re unable to attach the file, simply copy its contents and paste them into your message.
