Even with the new patch 9.5, computer still crashing even without vfr map, tried different graphics settings ultra, high, medium and still crashing and shutting the computer off .
And did you try anything in the knowledge base? If you are asking for help you need to provide all the info you can.
Do you have a page file set? You shouldn’t, no matter what non-Microsoft engineers say.
Did you check the event log?
Do you overlcock?
Mmm…my 7 year old Dell XPS desktop has not crashed running MSFS 2020. 35 hours in my logbook…
If the computer is actually shutting off, that sounds like power/cooling problems. Any overclocks @ProcessChimp301 ?
What is your PC configuration? Cpu, ram (quantity, number of slots used, frequencies), GPU, PSU, etc?
There are big chances that this is a hardware issue, a computer shutting off could have various reasons, from overheating to insufficient power, bad ram, unstable overclocking, etc
When your computer shuts down, it’s a hardware problem. Not a software problem.
Your power supply probably can’t keep up with the demand.
If your computer is shutting off, I would be lead to believe that it could be 2 things:
- Hardware issue on your end.
- Your computer is overheating and shutting itself down to protect itself.
Seeing how MSFS pushes hardware to its limits, and seeing how it turns my system into a mini furnace, I suspect #2 is your issue and should be what you look at first.
I would recommend checking your computer for dust. Clean air intakes, dust filters, etc. Blow out the CPU and GPU fans and heat sinks with compressed air. Don’t forget the power supply fan too. And if you have anything overclocked, I would recommend turning that down as well.
