Confused

During the latest update, and as the sim was downloading, there was a new option to press, satellite map or Bing Map. Does this have anything to do with MSFS and if so, how can I go back to the original Bing Map. Like I said, this was an update by MSFS, not another MOD.

Thanks

Unsure what you are referring too. Where exactly are you talking about?
World map, gps maps, VFR maps

Screenshot of what your looking at may help.

Did you ever install any mods relating to maps in any way, even if removed now?

That doesn’t sound like anything to do with MSFS. Are you sure it wasn’t something else on your computer at the same time?

I had previously installed Google Map enhancement, thought I deleted, but apparently I didn’t. All I know is that when I received the new update for MSFS, immediately after, there was an option for satellite or Bing maps, I assumed it was part of the MSFS package, because I stated before, this happened right after the MSFS update was running.

I tried to delete the Map enhancement program, but no luck.

Do you have any ideas as to how and go about deleting this program. I tried to reach out to the maker, but no luck as of yet.

Sorry, I have no pictures.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You’ll want to refer to the installation instructions for the software you previously installed, which ought to include uninstallation instructions as well.

If you’re unable to find directions that help you, you may need to remove your entire MSFS packages folder and/or uninstall MSFS and reinstall it to fix the damage.

@CausingSloth766 You need to remove the edits that were made to the host file.
The official Zendesk instructions for removing the host file edits can be found here:

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/4755172779548-How-to-fix-poor-photogrammetry

If you have installed Google Mods, restore Bing Maps and undo any modification made to your host file by the plug-in.

  1. Use the windows search bar and search for Notepad. Right-click and select Run as Administrator.
  2. In Notepad, go to File > Open and then navigate to Windows (C:), Windows, System32, drivers, etc
    and open the host file.
  3. Get rid of:
    127.0.0.1 kh.ssl.ak.tiles.virtualearth.net
    127.0.0.1 khstorelive.azureedge.net
  4. Save and exit

Warning: we do not recommend using any streamed map data add-on to replace Bing maps.

Ahhh, that’s what I thought was your issue
Read through here for some help, you may not need a full reinstall of msfs.
