My solution to this problem has been to stop flying in MSFS.
Not only that, but stop spending money on MSFS (even though I was so looking forward to the ATR).
I haven’t been able to fly without CTDs since SU10. Ever other game on my computer works flawlessly. I have done extensive testing as shown through my replies here. I have contacted support whose response was to fly in failsafe mode (even though that doesn’t fix the problem). I have completely reinstalled MSFS. All to no avail.
So my huge investment in MSFS sits idle and I’ve given up. No more money or flight time with MSFS. On to other things (currently sailing with esail) and replaying RDR2. I may occasionally try a flight here and there when updates come out, but I’m so crushed on my flight simming experience of the last few months. I love flying and hate giving it up, but I’m done with it. I’m too old and worn out to keep trying. All my controllers, logitech panels, CE, rudder pedals, etc. have been a huge investment that will now just sit. All the enhancements I’ve purchased on the marketplace will do the same and there will be no more. I would say I’m going to miss it, but I’ve been missing it for quite some time and I’ve had enough.
I feel your pain. In 2022, MSFS ran well for me, and I invested in a lot in hardware/addons thinking the CTDs were behind me. In late 2022, I lost interest in MSFS and played other games like RDR2 as you mentioned, and now FarCry6. Just this week, I decided to take a look at MSFS primarily cause I had read good thinks about SU12 and AI aircraft. So, 3x DA62 flights and 3x CTDs. My first CTDs in probably 1 year. Quite disappointing. When I get a chance, I will do another test flight with every addon removed, nothing in Community folder, and nothing else running via simconnect, just to see what happens. Anyway, sorry for your experience, but know that you’re not alone.
I flew in MSFS 2020 for over 2 years with no CTD’s, I recently upgraded my 2080ti to a 4070ti and ever since have been experiencing random CTD’s; sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after 2+ hours. I have uninstalled the old GFX driver using DDU and done a clean install of the latest drivers, tried both 531.29 and 531.68. The ONLY thing!!!.. that has changed on my system since MSFS ran perfectly fine for 2 years, is putting in a new gfx card. I have no CTD in any other game and the card is not overheating, so have ruled out a faulty GFX card.
My system specs are
Gigabyte Z390 UD Motherboard
Gigabyte RTX 4070 ti
64GB Ram
Win 10 Pro
Intel 19-9900K
Fault bucket ID from latest crash is 1498237624973290903, type 4
Do you fly with Offline AI Traffic? I get a lot CTDs with this. I’m still testing, but so far, no CTDs with Offline AI traffic turned off. Of course, I don’t know what I’m gonna do for GA traffic, but no traffic is better than CTDs I suppose.
When I last posted in this topic 23 days ago I was experiencing massive stuttering and random CTDs. I switched to DX12 with DLSS. I turned on VSync and set limit to 100% refresh rate. Since then I have flown over 30 flights of an hour and a half to 2 and a half without stuttering or CTDs. I have been getting between 50 and 60 FPS only dropping into the mid 30s over huge cities. If I fly over cities like San Franciso and LA at 1000 ft or less at 300 MPH in my Hellcat I might see some micro stutters but they are not that annoying. Most of my settings are either high or ultra, everything looks great. The guts in my system are gettin old ( about 5 or 6 years) but I am still getting good FPS and no CTDs (yet). Switching to DX12 was the best thing I have done in FSFS in a long time. If you have an RTX Nvidia graphics card you should try DX12.
i7 8700K CPU, Gforce RTX 2060 Super with 8 GB DDR6 VRAM, 32 GB RAM.
I switched to and from DX11 and 12 and would get CTD’s regardless. I removed most mods except for PMDG 737 and had a CTD near Boise area, I think.

Its so frustrating. No timers, no updates, no USB issues or powering down… no photoshop etc.
Even though I have 32gb?
I did a chkdsk and sfc/scannow and a memory diagnostic on all my drives and had no issues.
Though, I did have several programs open as I was flying haha.
I mean…AIG traffic control, Pilot2ATC, GSX, discord, trackIR, AIFlow and AIGround…RAAS…
But why does this happen mid-flight?
Scenery conflict?
I was pulling my hair out over the constant 30-60 min crashes I was experiencing! Turns out disabling Offline AI Traffic SEEMS to have solved my issues - two flights 60+ minutes with no crash. I’m using FSLTL GA traffic (beta) and it is at least producing some GA flights.
I had a ctd this morning and after looking at the crash dump in msfs it seems the sim tried to allocate 43gb of memory just before the crash.
I had set a pagefile of 16-32gb with my 32gb RAM but it might not have been enough. I will increase the pagefile to 16-64gb and see if that stops these crashes when I retry the same route later today.
Getting constant CTDs since today. Worked perfectly fine yesterday, no new mods or anything. Forced to play in safe mode which is getting boring after 5 minutes.
The sim has always been very unstable immediately after an update, but then the devs seem to stabilise it behind the scenes within a week or so. Could it be that the new World Update and perhaps some other under the hood updates are causing this increased instability at the moment? I would think that’s the case.
Knock on wood but ever since I replaced my 240 cooler with a 360, my CTD’s are gone. I’m curious what people’s temps are running. My AIO cooler was clearly failing. Running temps now in VR with most on ultra are in the 40’s with peaks in the 50’s and sometimes it will tap the 60’s. That was the only change I made. The crash event viewer fir the CTD’s were rarely the same each time. I feel the coding of the sim doesn’t handle CPU throttling very well. This opinion just based off of my personal experience.
