Iām having the same issue. I start flight normally, departure and after a while I receive CTD.
After investigating lil bit I noticed that it goes to CTD when my Pagefile hits the limit. I have tried use various sizes of pagefile, more then I have RAM (I have 24G), less, or let windows automatically manage. None of these worked. Task manager shows that system is using up to 10-12 GB of RAM but Pagesize keeps growing.
Not sure what could cause this, worked normally before. And the last successfull flight was on 19th April. After that SIM is unplayable.
Iāve had six 0xc0000005 exceptions in 40 minutes, turns out my 5800X3D was using Kombistrike overclock, turned it down to 1 and itās been good since. If anyone else has this issue, I strongly recommend to try without any CPU / RAM (inc XMP) overclocks, or tone them down a little.
I cannot use the simulator anymoreā¦since the last updateā¦CTDs, CTDs, CTDs.
I am sorry guys but I am not a developer and not sure why I need to know about RAM, pagefiles, logs, driver versions, error IDs, etc etc etc etc etc, I just want to fly for a few hours on the sim, but NO, it is just NOT POSSIBLE because the sim DOESNāT WORK.
I have more than 5 games installed on the PC, all plays perfect, except for MSFS, that doesnāt work at all, it always crash to desktop with a million different type of errors.
Iāve searched some other forums and everyone is having the same CTD issue, I wonder why do they have to update the simulator when everything was working great.
Same boat. Honestly, Iāve spent more time trying to address CTD issues than I have flown in this simulator over the last 3 years. Iām a software engineer too and have gone deep into Windows profiling and monitoring tools to peer into this issue. I run another flight simulator, games, and productivity hardware with no issue. I know what my CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSDs are doing ā theyāre all super healthy. My hardware is solid and always running up to date and stable drivers. Iāve uninstalled and reinstalled the game 2-3 times already and itās very time consuming even on gig internet speeds. The only thing I havenāt done is reinstall Windows itself but Iām not willing to inconvenience everything Iāve set up and installed for a gamble that this trash software might not crash. Itās not like Iāve even seen anyone post āhey, reinstalled Windows. Everything is great nowā and even if someone did: this is Microsoft software running on a Microsoft OS. Honestly, itās embarassing to know Microsoft made this game and it crashes like this. This much time later, I actually donāt believe it is incompetence ā at least a few engineers know the nature of the problem ā some section or system in the code that needs to be rewritten because not only does it have a problem. It is also impossible to debug the problem. I get it ā itās a special kind of pain that is costly to the company, but if they give a ā ā ā ā , theyāll invest in fixing it. This isnāt Call of Duty; this is a flight simulator where some of us put mental energy and serious time into thinking about and making a plan, then executing it.
Iām extremely disappointed I donāt get to enjoy the relaxing nature of this basic flight simulator, but MSFS is trash to me because of these crashes. Itās been a waste of the $100 of $120 I spent on it on release. I was prepared for some elements of quality not being great, and can suffer a period of instability that gets patched later, but itās almost 3 years later and 4 or so revisits, and still crashing to desktop withtout a clear and consistent answer for why itās happening. Microsoft, you are seriously dropping the ball.
FINALLY! On the ground and shut down after a CTD free flight.
I have tried this same KTHA-KTBR (occasionally substituting KSAV for KTBR) flight at least 50 times since nearly a year ago, each time with a CTD anywhere from 20mins to 2hrs in. I have posted about my troubles on this thread many times, done numerous checks and testing (you can see throughout the thread). Dealt with support, etc., etc.
I did this flight on DX12 (have tried that before to no avail). But I removed all MSI programs (MSI Afterburner, etc.) and also EVGA Precision X1 even though I didnāt use these programs after I started having CTD issues. They were just installed and not used. I completely removed/uninstalled them in between my last CTD post and now. I went into nVidia Control panelās 3D settings and reset them all to stock (in case anything had been changed). I also cleaned up some other items but just havenāt flown since my last CTD report from right after the SU12 update near the end of March. I donāt know if one of those programs was the cause or not, but this is the first time since about a year ago Iāve been able to complete a flight without a CTD.
Well after reading these past posts it seems that I may have the same issue. I went for months not having ANY CTDs and now since the last update (Im not on any Beta), the CTDs are starting again, and totally random whenā¦ Sometimes at the star of a flight, sometimes at the end, and more annoying than ever, half way throughā¦ nothing has changed in my system, so answer that?
Ditto for me, impossible to fly more than 10-20 minutes without having a CTD, I fly with the cache empty and trying all the recommended methods to avoid CTDs
I spent a lot of money to buy the premium version + the Fenix - PMDG - CRJ - ATR - AN225 and a few others without finishing a flightā¦
I make a career on PilotLife and I have to restart a course each time (another 35 ā¬ in the trash)
Iām thinking of migrating to XPlane 12
I removed a bunch of items from my community folder I wasnāt using, and updated my MSI afterburner, double checked I was on NVidia driver 531.29, and just I did some general maintenance on my systemā¦. Result, two good flights, one in the 310R (pancake mode), and a short hop in the Spitfire in VR.
Crossing fingers I can make it through some group flights todayā¦
I deleted and recreated the rolling cache thinking that changing a new gfx card might some how be affected by the rolling cache created with my previous GFX card. I then managed 3 consecutive flights of 2.5+ hours each with no crash, and then today, just as I am begining to be hopeful that the CTD issue is fixed, bang, i have another one mid way through the flight after just 1hr 15 mins.
I had no CTD for about 1,5 week ā¦ was really surprisedā¦ kind of falling in love for the first time ā¦ 3 days ago, simtoolkitpro dropped some updates ā¦ and like falling in love for the first time: It crashed 2-3x each day ā¦ (combined with high CPU Load and Memory consumption) ā¦ there is something wrong with it (others reported this aswell in stp discord). Since im not using it (a couple of hours and flights) ā¦ no sound cracking, no final sound cracking to CTD ā¦
Weatherās getting warmer ā¦ Iāve just spent two days servicing my PC and recalibrating my overclocks. Hopefully thatās it til same time next year.
Edit: make that four days ā¦ despite several scans the Rufus usb boot app I got from sourceforge contains an unsolvable trojan that never surfaced until after I had everything set up nice and tuned to perfection
Just want to mention that I had CTDs almost every flight for a few months, after trying loads of different things I narrowed it down to AI traffic and since disabling that a couple of weeks ago Iāve not had a single crash.
IĀ“ve been playing MSFS after more than 10 years pause period. I was loving C414, Kodiak 100 and ATR72/42. No crashes. Last 4 days Iāve been getting several CTD. First when I flew C414 for several flight in a row. Then CTD after a few or a lot of minutes. Iāve been having sounds problems after NVIDIA driver update, I guessā¦ Itās really annoying. Iāll give MSFS a break until some sort of update comes up againā¦
VSR was mentioned earlier in this thread, after weeks of CTDs I start to believe that running the VSR server is causing it. Worth trying in case you ran out ot all other ideas and happen to use VSR.
UPDATE : I confirm 3 end to end flights when VSR was not running (but still connected to Vatsim). To generalize, you may suspect any addons that read/write data from/to the SIm, and possibly resulting in the 0xc0000005 error.
