Controller Question

I’d like to buy a throttle, but if I’m going to get one, I’d like to be able to use it in other games. Is there a generic throttle out there for cross gaming?

Thank you

A throttles a throttle, with a number of axes, and varying build qualities, and prices to match.

The game you use it with shouldn’t matter. That said, some might “feel” better. Like in Elite, my Warthog throttle is better suited than my TQ6+. Both would work adequately, but Elite doesn’t really need another 5 levers.

I suppose out of the two, a multi-function throttle with lots of additional buttons, and switches would arguably be of more use across different genres of game.

Unfortunately, a lot of those types of throttle don’t tend to be sold on their own, like the Saitek kit, where you get the stick as well. You can get the Warthog throttle stand alone.

What do you want to use it with?

Hello,
I want to use the throttle for DCS, which I just got into, Falcon BMS, Elite, pretty much any sim that comes along.
One issue is that I’m left-handed, so my options are limited. I have the warthog throttle, but it’s no good in my right hand. I just can’t get used to it. It’s collecting dust in the closest.

Thank you for answering.

The Warthog is a great throttle! Keep at it. You’ll get used to it. I had left-handed A-10 and F-16 colleagues in the Air Force. They never had a problem flying right-handed. Then again, they didn’t have a choice!

I’ve tried. I just can’t get the hang of it. I also have the Joystick that goes with it, but using it in my right hand feels really weird to me. I always turn in the opposite direction when flying. That’s also in the closet. I wasted a lot of money on this!

Thanks

Shame. Though it’s often possible to reprogram any given stick to compensate for handedness.

You would think so, but for me, the actual using the joystick in the opposite hand has been the handicap for me!

Thanks

After 40 years flying right handed, I had to learn to fly with my left hand. It felt really weird at first, but became second nature after a few hours.

The Warthog stick and throttle are like gold dust! You should be able to sell them for a hefty price.

Ah, I understand. Oh to be ambidextrous, eh.

Although I say that with a ‘be careful what you wish for’ caveat.
My [now dead] brother routinely wrote with both hands. At the same time!!!
However everything he wrote [and here’s why the caveat] could only be easily read using a mirror.

I thought about getting rid of them, but every now and then I get the urge to give it “one” more go!

I don’t know how to respond to this, other to say my condolences.

You are very kind.
Please don’t be too concerned. He died 50 years and some ago.
A personal tragedy at the time, of course, but whenever, after so long, I think of him,
the memories are all good such that I can only smile.

Time is the fire in which we burn!
Forgive me my moment of morbidity.

Regards.
Phil.
