Ok. I have extremely limited time for fun and this Sim can be extremely fun, but also overwhelmingly frustrating!
Today’s experience.
Alright, wife just went to work I have an hour to fly before I have to go to work. Yes!
Click MSFS20
3.5 min to Press Any Key
1 min to game menu
1min quick aircraft/airport/weather setup
1 min to actual flight
Grrr. over 6min just to get flying.
Then when I get in game, controller settings are gone.
It recognizes the controller, but my custom mappings are gone.
Ok Alt F4 restart sim
Repeat long wait time get in game and still my settings are gone.
Decided to fly just to get some time and it was beyond frustrating.
30+ min of frustration… Now I’m off to work with a bad taste in my mouth.
Why do the custom mappings keep disappearing like this? Is this going to be the - cross your fingers hoping it works every time you sit waiting for 5-7 min loading up the Sim - kind of normal? Is this the thorn of an online streaming game?
This game is simultaneously frustrating and wonderful!
For now, every time I want to play I have to hard copy me previous settings config files over into the packages directory. I don’t know where the disappear to but after a while it goes back to default. It like it has amnesia after a while!
This Thread will show you how and where to edit the config files. Then once you’re done just copy the whole thing and when you get ready to start the Sim you can just check that file and see if it “forgot” the settings, and if it did you can paste in your back up.
