Cowan Simulation Bell 222B

I really appreciate your time, thank you.
Let me play with it for a while, see if I can figure it out with events.
Thank you.

Want to hear a funny story?
When I did my helicopter training (real life), one of the lessons was demonstration of VRS. The instructor tried and tried and couldn’t do it. Mind you, this is a gentleman that had almost 2000 hours on that type and had flown as lead of a well known display team. A great aviator. After several attempts, he just said: “nah, don’t worry, just come into the hover with less than 500 feet per minute and you should be fine”. 3000 flight hours later, and 4 helicopter types (lights, mediums and heavies), having landed and done external cargo loads at 8000 feet altitude, just by being careful with tailwinds and rates of descent, as that instructor fold me, I have never been, not even close, to VRS. Best wishes!

I’m curious: what is the reason why this heli is so much more stable than any other helicopter so far in MSFS? Does it have a really advanced stability augmentation system or something like that?

Out on xbox and bought it instantly and flew around a little while if course singing the airwolf tune over and over, and then I changed to my custom settings and this heli really found its place in my heart! Wow! So stable and just a joy to be flying over the rooftops in! Really feels like a luxury gt car in the sky!
For all controller users, set cyclic sensitivity to 70% on LS X and Y axis! And no deadzone!
Makes a huge difference on all cowan helicopters!

Love the sound of the rotorblades too!

I think this will be my go to chopper now!

Does it have trim and AP?

No AP for the moment but the trim works with my stick bindings

You’re right. Just made my first flight on it. It changes from the md500! The visibility is not great on this one and I struggle to land on roofs! But so much fun to have landing gear!
I have some issues with views. Instrumental views are going ouside and most of exterior views do not show this beautiful aircraft. I do not know if you have the same or if it is only on my xbox

Its a bit cramped cockpit so yes, its hard to see out of, but at least with my controler settings its rather easy to fly it from outside. Bit I would really like to be able to set the camera somewhere and do fly bys and see this beautiful bird in action. Or a replay function would ve easier and better.
Have flown it for two long flights now and its just fantastic to fly and explore in!
They really need to make real helicopter controlls for xbox so that you can fly this for real!
Now where is the button for the missiles…? :joy:

I am using the velocityone stick from Turtlebeach and it is quite fine even with helicopter. I have the collective match with the left axe. I doubt real controls come to xbox but we never knows!

I just noticed the dust effect around the ground is missing with this 222b.
Also just found a startup check list IRL : https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Csyo8YhE6UA

I got this one but it is probably going to be the last one I get from Cowan.

Textures are really poor, graphics are bad, a lot of low poly areas that look awful.
Exterior model is ok but the interior cockpit is quite ugly and the default instruments used do not help at all.
The overhead panel is of freeware quality or worst, they probably reused something from many years ago.
Flight model seems to be ok, systems are just the default ones.

I’ll stay away from Cowan for a good time, I’m surprised how bad this new release was.

I am the only one to have a bug on UI in external view ? where the power and the RPM of the two engines overlap. I’m playing on xbox and even after restart msfs the UI on the 222b still overlap.

Over than that, as those above say i’m rather disappointed with the quality of the modeling and the textures.
I hope futher update will improve these points.

I am very satisfied with this heli!
The 222B gives me the feeling of weight i miss in most aircraft. It still needs some work for the cockpit view, as it seems really hard to do spot landings as you don’t see enough but all in all i really enjoy the flights!
The sound is the best, it fits to the large blades making the deep dock dock dock sounds

This was fixed with the first update a few days ago. Don’t know when the update will be available on the Marketplace though.

I’ve got all his others and I’m holding off on this one. To be honest I think he just wanted to get them to marketplace as quick as he could and I believe this is the last one to come over. Hopefully some time will now be spent on already released products.

I’d like to see some love put into these before I buy the 222. I watched a review on YouTube on a top spec PC and the textures weren’t what I expected. I’m not overly bothered about texture quality because I never put my nose that close but I can’t help but feel they were rushed to market. Don’t get me wrong I like them and he’s currently the only one making rotors for the sim and he’s doing a decent job I just think they could be improved. They’re good but have potential to be great.

The flight characteristics need to be worked on by Asobo too so it’s not all down to Cowan. I guess time will tell.

Addicted to flying this great chopper! Would love to see how long I have flown with every single chopper, I think I have flown more with this in just a few days then with a lot of my other ones in total.
Just flew monaco to turin and even managed to land at the fiat roof racetrack heliport.

Then our app will be of interest to you (if you are on PC)?
