Cowansim H125 released

I purchased it on Xbox. Controls are great. However it looks like this helicopter runs out of memory on console. Black screens, stutters and CTD.

Its basically the best chopper in the game. If the new update has not broken it its a must to buy!
And I am on xbox

Sorry but not even close.

100% agree with this statement

Xbox memory limitations aside, this is a fantastic helicopter. I’ve put only a few hours in it so far but I’m looking forward to finally learn proper helicopter flight with it. :ok_hand:

The 125 went from being meh to good to awful and now finally back to being good again, was very stable with positive controls on my last flight

I never had issues with the 125 on my series x. I haven’t tried the new update yet, but I’m wondering where your BS are coming from? I never had BS in this heli. And I never thought it to be a resource heavy addon, to make the Xbox ā€œrun out of memory.ā€ So that’s new to me. I’ve owned this since it came out April 2023…

It’s definitely not the best chopper in the sim… I’d go as far as to say it’s towards the bottom of the pile for any kind of realism, certainly among the Cowan releases .

My first flight was (well, would’ve been) around the Chicago area, starting at Meigs Field. Granted, that’s a heavy area, busy airspace, dense urban environment and photogrammetry, although I didn’t even attempt to fly directly over the city. A few minutes into the flight the screens went black and came back randomly, the simulator stuttered like crazy. Tried to go back to Meigs Field but as the city in the distance tried to load in, the stutters became even worse, the screens went black this time permanently and before I could land the sim crashed. Probably an outlier but still something to note.

I haven’t flown with the screens much as I prefer the analog set up but I’m wondering if the updated G3X is too resource heavy. I’m having trouble with the Fox with the G3X Touch updates. Black screens after a long flight on my own but then multiple CTD in a group flight including one with just one other MP.

One issue I’ve had is not being able to select GPS as a source for the HSI with the GTN650 and analog instruments. The source switch only allows NAV 1 or NAV 2.

The only way I’ve found is to switch back to the GTX430. Then select GPS as the source before switching back to the GTN650.

On Xbox.

Edit: The other small oddity is that the fuel shut-off doesn’t after a flight. I realize it’s not the proper engine shut down procedure but even so it should always kill the engine. Works on the ground before the flight.

I switched but even the middle screens went out. Those that display the engine data. I think it doesn’t matter as the heli has to keep all panel options in memory.

Well so far I’ve had no BS with the analog layout and I’ve flown over NYC, LA and other resource heavy areas. Maybe I’ve been lucky so far.

I fly in VR and noticed that this helicopter induces that behavior frequently. Sim dead, everything black, no telemetry to motion platform, and then after a couple of seconds, it comes alive again.
I have it with all planes, but this heli brings it out a lot.

Is there any kind of autopilot functionality on the was for this? There’s the HeliSAS panel modeled in the cockpit but it’s inoperative. It would add a lot to the enjoyment if it could be utilized.

No, short answer is it was there when it was modeled in xplane. Cowan has stated a bunch of times he isn’t going to implement AP until Asobo does it natively since he uses their flight model. Here’s hoping Asobo did just that with their new AStar coming in the base sim. Then Cowan will update this one for 2024, who knows if it will be backwards compatible for 2020 at that point.

I recently purchased H125 but I am disappointed about the cockpit graphics which is really low quality (instead of the external model which is of an excellent quality).
Is there some mods that can improve the cockpit/panel?

I just purchased H125 and i’m very disappointed about the poor quality of the cockpit. Very low level for a payware product like that

Fun fact, this helicopter is used in the new Beverly Hills Cop movie. (N831HA) Now to try and replicate the maneuvers they do in the film, minus the crash.

I’m going to watch it tonight. Looking forward to the helicopter scene!
