I don’t need to assume I know nothing. I do crash debugging for a living and unfortunately I don’t have the private symbols for flight simulator to go through the dump file. However I do know when something offered as advice won’t address the issue. Sorry if you feel this way but that’s how it is.
Hi, after your fresh install of windows and msfs did you install other software except c++ or gpu drivers?
I am asking this because I had a similar issue too, after losing lots of my hair and fight against my pc and the Sim I found the issue. It was my Logitech software that was causing my ctd on msfs and warthunder as well.
These unexplained crashes, where nothing that usually helps works do seem to have something of a common element. Each one I have looked at have an AMD processor rather than Intel.
yes… the issue with this lang pack is bit strange…
Some users can not install the game, for some users it happens like your case, other users get issues later in-game.
Important to know is that the error combination " 0xc0000409 & ucrtbase.dll " is in 99,9% the lang pack
I remember only one case in forum where these was not the case… I have to search a bit…
EDIT: may be this I had in mind…
2 million users and counting would suggest that it does, in fact, run.
Some of those users are actually very helpful, nice folks that would like to get you up and running as well. I would suggest taking a moment to read your responses before submitting them. I understand your frustration but it is rarely productive to sound dismissive of those that step up to assist. I am sure it is not your intention, but many of your responses read a bit that way.
From what you are describing, I would be suspicious of any anti-virus or firewall software you have running. The other culprit has been background storage drive software.
Just a couple of things to check.
Everyone - Lets try to keep things civil
Yes, willissxdc you are right, I have been using the Flight Sim for 5 or 6 months now and just today I received another warning by Microsoft System Security asking me to allow the flight sim through the Firewall, I would say I have had up to 5 of these warnings at random times, it may be every time I switch on Photogrammetry or Bing as it disconnected me yesterday even though I have a rock-solid 70MB and everything associated with the Sim and Xbox can pass through the wall.
Yup. Security software can be a little over protective at times. You are fortunate to get a message that allows you to make adjustments. Unfortunately there are plenty of packages out there, and router firmware protocols, that do not warn, they just act. Those are the ones that cause issues that can be very hard to track down.
That’s one of the benefits of having a software firewall.
But there are still software security titles that just, DO, without warning. Kaspersky is a good example of what I would call “an insidious protector”.
I use Window10 Defender and Windows Security.
It notifies me when an Application is blocked from my “Protected Folders”
and I can then allow it through or leave it blocked.
HI.
“2 million users and counting would suggest that it does, in fact, run”
2 million users doesn’t indicate 2 million users who can run the game. Looking at these forums and others I suspect there is a huge contingent of users, first time installs like myself on new systems, who cannot run the game.
I took the liberty of attaching a debugger to the flightsimulator.exe and can see that it fails to retrieve windows store credentials from the registry with an Access Denied exception. Shortly after, the launcher dies because the stack on the main UI thread gets blown. I’m guessing it continues to get the credentials recursively which would eventually exhaust the stack. If I have the public symbols for FS then I could get deeper into it. However there is no way of knowing if this is just normal in this code base :\
So… Given that every other game from the windows store works fine. Together with system performance being fine with no component failure. Latest drivers all on a first install basis because it’s a new system. Fire wall is set by the trusted installer to allow traffic through and ESET ignores the app, Yet, this game, with a large contingent of users suffering the same issue, won’t launch.
Whilst I’m grateful about the help received, I feel there has been not root cause analysis for this problem. With anecdotal fixes being bounded around without any support from the developers which in this day and age is pretty crappy. One of the reasons for upgrading to my new system was MSFS2020. FSX still works as does DCS world. But not this.
Very poor
For multiple reasons…
this is one of the big troublemaker related to MSFS…
example … Cannot start the sim. Nothing happens after clicking "Launch" button in MS Store - #29 by Carteross
( the user disabled also real time protection )
What about SSD and HDD // segate?
Its a 2TB Corsair M.2 PCIe SSD.
Ok. The sim is now working. When attaching a debugger it appeared to be failing on authentication with the windows store, which was bizzare because I was logged into it.
However, I just prepared a bug report to zen desk and that required a login. And now the game is downloading it’s content.
So, does this game require authentication with zendesk on when using the gamepass version?
Weird.
No, not at all. There was something wrong with your MS login I would guess.
Did you try using the XBox Console Companion app to sign out of the XBox Live network, then sign back in again?
You definitely don’t need a browser open to use MSFS, much less be signed in to the support Zendesk.
That was one of the first things I checked. Also, logging into Zendesk has created a new login in windows credentials called “virtualapp/didlogical”. I’m guessing this is what is now being used by FS.
I had the same problem, and same solution.
I have the same issue, but installing a language pack doesn’t resolve the issue. Any update on this?
