CSS 737-500 and the complete classic series

Exactly mate, and as someone also pointed out, 120 for all three when they eventually come out with the 3 and 400… thats essentially 40 each…
I do like something that looks good but I’m certainly not going to be exactly caring if a few decals are hard to read I mean.. i want to play “flight simulator” not “baggage handler” simulator…
Especially if it saves a few frame rates and what-not…
I definitely feel MSFS2020/24 has spoiled us rotten when it comes to the level of detail one can go towards almost reality..
But…
There have been many developers that have ditched systems for pure art…
As long as the rnav/vnav works on this as it should, and it can do the full rnp 5 approach into Queenstown airport..(the bencmark for rnp approaches) thats all that counts…
I’ll be definitely buying it once the 300 comes out and I can fly all of Air nz routes…

The initial release won’t have GPS, so it wouldn’t be able to do that approach legally unfortunately.

Also the delay is related to activation issues some streamers had when trying the plane.

I agree 100%. People who whine about textures can always go to CaptainSim or IniBuilds local legends if they like flying pretty but empty models, but if a developer has limited resources, I’d rather have them spend those resources on system details. Not everyone has a big studio behind them.

Ive kinda been following the journey but kinda not as im currently moving country and i briefly watched one of those videos last night.. but what do you mean by GPS.? It does have a FMS with navigraph in the tablet. So im assuming it either works or it doesn’t work, but if the fms and navigraph is working then surely the navigation i.e rnp approaches is working

It does have an FMS but it relies on IRS units to be aligned and maintain their position. Eventually in flight they go out of alignment and need to be recalibrated via VOR/DMEs along the way. With a GPS unit the position is instead updated via satellites instead.

The later versions of the 737 Classics had the GPS unit installed.

You know how in the newer NG 737s when you start alignment you have to copy the GPS position and paste it in the Set POS field? In here you can’t do that. The plane basically doesn’t know where it is. Instead you might notice on parking charts you’ll see a lat/lon coordinates for each stand. That’s what that’s for - so you can manually tell your classic plane where it is.

EDIT: And sorry to answer your question: without the GPS unit the plane doesn’t have enough accuracy to do an RNP approach legally. The plane will still do it, and should be able to fly it okay. You just wouldn’t be allowed to do it RL.

When I watched a stream of this plane, I though it is like fsx plane and couldn’t watch even for five mins.
Now I see that I am not alone. Entire game is cheaper than this fsx plane

What? CSS’s entire marketing is based on them being a relatively big studio with experienced professionals!

This message is for the developers, I watched most of the streams and it is worth noting that the MMO bar is not moving down at higher Flight levels. It should be hitting the airspeed needle at Mach .82 (737 classics max operating mach) ) and it seems to be way up.
It also seems that many streamers dont know how to operate aircraft very well..lol

well, i guss that they not give it out today.. is not much information anyway. :frowning:

I tried to support the devs for so long, but the way things have turned out Im out. The radio silence the last few days, the claim that the delay was due "to 8% of the streamers having problems connecting the app to the sim" and lastly one of the mods in their discord is downright unfriendly and dont know anything whatsoever about the product.

This is basically amateur hour.

its come out today at 17 utc… 737-500

Soooo, did any colleagues in the forum bite?

Looks like Chewwy94 did and he gave up on it shortly after departure due to performance issues. In all fairness he didn’t seem sure if it was his system or not, but still.

All I have to say is thank the heavens for the 5 dollar sub option.
-Bad performance. Even the Fenix A320 is silky smooth in FS2020.
-Flies LNAV and approaches like a drunken sailor. (Sorry to all sailors)
-Does not support force feedback sticks or yokes with AP and trim following. As soon as the stick moves, the AP disengages.
-Not a good feeling hand flying it.

I`ll probasbly try again in a year or so. (If CSS is still around)

i will warning other guys to buy this problem. its problem with many things here..

I watched OWLZzFS’s stream last night. He was trying a pretty straightforward leg and had SO. MANY. PROBLEMS. First, a WASM crash during preflight, then a brief authentication issue after a restart. Then on takeoff the plane had a really wild, almost uncontrollable transition from roll to climb. The plane’s airspeed indicator seemed to be unreliable the entire flight. Neither LNAV nor VNAV appeared to work consistently and stably. He was given a hold by the VATSIM controller and the plane wouldn’t fly the programmed hold. Etc. He finally logged off VATSIM, diverted to Atlanta and spitballed and approach and landing (which went surprisingly well).

After all that, he quit the sim, restarted it, and flew his second leg in the PMDG 737-700 instead.

and, what have this with the pmdg to do? :red_question_mark: PMDG have been many years and, they know this, Css is very new team, so they need learn this better, next time i guess.

I’m not sure what you’re asking me here? I merely reported what the streamer in question decided to do when the frustrations with this aircraft became too high and he just wanted to fly on VATSIM for his audience.

No one forces a developer to release a plane with major game-breaking bugs.

Ehh no… i was also mean that this has lot of bugs lol… i have talked to the guy as make, this but his have not controll right now, :stuck_out_tongue: so i lost 120 dollar this time..

Looks like another update is on its way and work on the 737-300/400 underway.. I’ll definitely be getting once the 300 is released!!
