CSS 737-500 and the complete classic series

I wont touch that thing until they have it fixed completely. Based on the state of the plane on release, Im not very optimistic.

its work litte better, here in msf24 than 20.. but many problems with IRS and if you change to fly dir to next waypoint some times the not works and sometimes gpu not works, many time i need restart server form Css… im angry on my self sometimes because i bought this problems

Just bought the 737-500 last week, and can’t stop flying it. Certainly there are a few bugs, but a fun and cool plane. I was wondering, do the people who bought this earlier and had complaints think it’s pretty good now?

I’m really liking it and looking forward to the 400 which is the Classic I remember flying in most often.

Topic title changed as the aircraft has been released.

I have recently tried the 1-week trail for MSFS 2024. Firstly it was an absolute faff to get in on the pc in the first place. Secondly, once finally loaded it was impossible to start the engines. Thirdly, starting from altitude resulted in a nose dive and loss of control.

I would expect this level of junk from the likes of MScenery, certainly not from a paid subscription or extortionate one-off payment.

Seriously, I love playing on the sim, especially in VR, but what drives this level of pricing? do the developers think that we really need to spend £130 just to pretend to be a pilot, flying a pretend plane, especially one that is literally festooned with bugs.

Needless to say, I’ve cancelled and removed.

Taken from their Discord, was meant to share this yesterday but got very busy, It’s a big read but an exciting one!!

Dear friends, CSS here!

We have great news for @everyone !

We’ve been quiet for a while, and not without good reason - with this post we will be addressing several key community feedback points we’ve received since release. Buckle in, as this is our largest news post yet!

CSS Launcher Redesign

Over the past couple of months we have been carefully crafting a new visually appealing, intuitive and easy to use design for the CSS Launcher, and we’re pleased to say that it is currently in the final testing phase and will soon become available via an automatic update to all of our users. We hope this new design will make your CSS experience more pleasant and convenient!

Time to deliver what we promised

Ever since the initial 737-500 release, many users have been eagerly asking for the rest of the 737 Classic line-up. After months of silence, it is finally time to reveal that this is exactly what we’ve been working on behind the scenes. The CSS 737-300 and -400 passenger and freighter versions will be joining the 737 Classic line-up very shortly.

In addition, a significant amount of time and resources was spent on rebuilding our project entirely to make it in line with the proper MSFS 2024 infrastructure. In the short term, this means that the next update will feature a stable, native MSFS 2024 version for you to enjoy, while in the long term it will allow us to take full advantage of the features MSFS 2024 has to offer for the CSS 737 Classic V2.

As promised, all of the new CSS 737 Classic variants will be available at no additional cost to all of our customers for both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

Sales & Pricing Policies revamp

A lot of community feedback has been directed at our subscription-based sales model, with many users wishing for variant-specific purchase options. As such, they’ll be pleased to hear that we have revamped our sales policy to include the following variants:

The current monthly, yearly and permanent license options will remain available and grant you access to all CSS 737 Classic variants.,

The 737-300, 737-400 and 737-500 passenger versions will be available as standalone, permanent purchases priced at $45 each.,

The 737-300 and 737-400 freighters will be available as add-ons to their respective passenger versions for $10 each.,

The monthly and yearly subscription options will ONLY be available for purchase via the CSS Launcher.,

If you have an active subscription, the standalone variants will not be available for purchase until your subscription expires.,

If you purchase a standalone variant, you will no longer be able to purchase the subscriptions or the $120 full permanent license.,

These changes will take effect with the release of the new 737 Classic variants.

We hope these new options will be flexible enough for everyone to enjoy our products however they like!

The CSS 737-300

The 737-300 is the most popular 737 Classic variant, with over 1000 built from 1984 to 1999. It is fitted with either 20K, 22K or 23K CFM56-3 engines, with winglets becoming a retrofit option in the early 2000’s. For the 737-300SF, we’ve chosen the PEMCO conversion. We’ll share some more previews of it in the near future.

We have modelled all 3 engine ratings, which are defined by the livery in its aircraft.cfg file. The exterior model has also seen various fixes and improvements which have subsequently been translated back to the 737-500 exterior model.

The CSS 737-300 comes with 16 liveries at launch, all with their appropriate engine ratings:

Air China | B-2532 | 20K,

Air New Zealand | ZK-NGI | 23K,

Qantas | VH-TAH | 23K,

Ryanair | G-BZZJ | 22K

The CSS 737-400

The 737-400 is the longest member of the Classic family, built from 1985 to 2000. It is powered by either 22K or 23K CFM56-3 engines and is the only Classic variant to have never received winglets. For the 737-400SF, we have modelled the AEI conversion.

As is the case with the -300, we have modelled both the 22K and 23K engine variants, which will be livery-specific.

The CSS 737-400 comes with 18 liveries at launch:

Air Horizon | 9H-MPW | 23K,

Air Mediterranean | SX-MAT | 23K,

Alaska Airlines | N795AS | 23K,

CSS 737-500 Fixes & Improvements

As mentioned above, working on the 737-300 model has allowed us to make some improvements which found their way back into the 737-500.

The 737-500 now has a separate Winglet flight model, so Winglets have been made livery-specific (customizable via aircraft.cfg) and can no longer be toggled via the EFB. Additionally, like the -300, the -500 now has livery-specific engine ratings (18K and 20K).

Exterior model improvements:

Fixed cargo door handle animations,

Removed gaps between exterior model and cabin walls,

Fixed right engine and cargo door rivets,

Fixed small white artifacts appearing in cockpit in external view,

Hello all

I can see a lot of negative attitudes towards CSS 737Classic, but I hope there’s someone here who actually owns the plane and could help me.

I have a problem with the aircraft’s radios and I can’t find solution (still waiting for support to come back to me on this one).

I can’t hear ATC instructions. I can ask for f.ex clearance, but I won’t be able to hear ATC voice. I just see instructions popping in on my ATC comm window. Weird enough, I get no options to read back, so in order to do it I need to flick the frequency to something random and than flick it back. At that point I have the options to reply/read back to ATC but I still can’t hear ATC.

I tried handing comms to assistant but the situation is similar, although more complicated. The assistant will request clearance but will get no voice reply (I can see instructions poppin in on the ATC comm window again), there’s no options to readback, so need to flick freq, when back to normal freq my assistant is not replying to ATC, so I have to press option to readback instructions, but my readback will be with my assistant’s voice (I have my voice set as male and co-pilot as female).

During flight I don’t see even messages poppin into the ATC comm window, need to flick freq and than find out what ATC wanted of me.

Has anyone seen anything like that? Does anyone know how to fix it?

On radio panel I have my VHF1-2 on (both illuminated), INT FLT on, SPKR on, volume max’ed out (I turned knobs in clockwise position), I have same set for co-pilot. I checked AZURE and all that stuff and all is fine. This is the only aircraft where I have such problem.

Has anyone see this problem in this aircraft? Any idea if I might be doing something wrong? This bird does seem to be quite advances systems wise, so maybe there’s something I need to switch on during cockpit preparation?

Thank you

Andrew

Update

Noticed my whole comms are messed up. I restarted sim, took completely different plane and can’t even talk to ATC

Man i own this thats they give, out the new update. Its bug after bugs

I bought it and installed it yesterday, I presumed that after so many updates the radios would not cause any problem. Isn’t it one of the easiest things to simulate? Radios I mean?

Another update

After removing CSS737 from Community folder my radios work perfect  That’s just weird for an addon for $120 to be messing with radios

The new update has not come yet…

I think updated 735 is out. And 2024 now fully supported. But their website doesn’t open for me. Was anyone able to check it out? Only thing I found is this trailer… They really need to manage their comms better

Yes, I would also like to know how this project goes, especially now with the MSFS2024 version. I’ve never purchased it because some user feedback was very negative and also the pricing seemed quite steep to me. But flying the classic series has always been tempting…

you dont need it.

Seeing an Air Berlin 737-500 (they only had 400, 700, 800 and 300, 200 when they still were Air Berlin USA with a completely different livery) with a Danish registration and not even the complete website decals on their landing page tells me all I need to know.

Not true.

Air Berlin operated -500 series. As far as I remember one of the aircraft got painted in United Airlines colors one one side of the fuselage for a movie or something. And they did operate -500 with OY- registration.

Quick google search shows they also operated -300 series

https://www.planespotters.net/photo/064575/oy-apl-air-berlin-boeing-737-5l9

Varig operated the 300 and 400, any chance of a livery for one of the variants?

I stand corrected. You should contact Wiki and edit their article. Thx for the info. Even the incomplete decal seems correct. Have been working there, but I did not know.

p.s. just saw: was a (wet)lease from Sterling Air and is surprisingly still flying.

So general info for those, who are considering buying the aircraft. After having brief conversation with CSS team member on their discord, I was advised, that my previously reported problem (aircraft not communicating/receiving messages from in sim ATC) is known issue to CSS Team but fixing it is not on their priority list because, as they said, most people do not use MSFS default ATC anyway. So keep in mind, that if you’re using default ATC in the sim (like myself) the aircraft is not going to receive any communication from the tower/ATC services and it seems they don’t seem to be willing to change it anytime soon.
