CTD after ANY menu adjustment after latest update

I had a game that was running flawlessly until the latest update which is:

FlightSimulator.exe | Version 1.27.21.0

Any change I make to something in the menu = instant CTD. For example I turned the menu music off, boom CTD.

The flow is:
Game loads > I go to Options > Change something in Menu > Apply to save > CTD

  1. Community is empty
  2. Windows 10 Pro is up to date
  3. nVidia drivers up to date
  4. All other games running fine
  5. MSFS WAS running fine prior to this

Any advice, thanks.

Be aware of the logbook warning!

I made a flight last night in the PMDG 737-700. I made several options changes throughout the flight, without a CTD. Can’t imagine why that would happen to you.

Thanks for this suggestion! Will try it later. Im not concerned about logbook, just want the game back
Cant wait to try this out.

Yea Im trying to see what might be causing it. It began as soon as the latest update was applied. Worst case scenario (if above trick doesnt work) I’ll have to try a resintall.

You might also want to consider logging out of your xbox login and logging back in again, too.

A long time ago I had a different issue, but, somehow my login had gotten corrupted and even though I was logged in I wasn’t, and it was causing issues with the game. At that time, I had to uninstall the xbox app and reinstall it, and I was eventually able to fix my login.

Since it seems you might have a cloud issue, maybe that can help without you having to lose any data associated with the game.

Update

Thanks to all for your replies which all looked very promising however they refused to work :frowning:
Likely something on my end that I have messed up.

So I had to use the nuclear option. Just got done with a clean reinstall and Im about to test it. One side effect from this is that I no longer get an “unable to sync” error on Steam.

I’ll be happy if all work fine after the full reinstall. But to me, reading your first post, the explanation could be your usercfg.opt file, where options are stored, have been turn to “read only”, so saving option always fail. My explanation is weird as I don’t think it should crash in that case, but worst checking…
