CTD after latest update (Update #5)

are you replying to someone? i don’t get your point? is this a workaround to the problem?

@MarkManner
It was, and should have been posted in another thread discussing the same thing. I will link that post in that thread also.

hello

same for me vjoy as well as my rudder

I gave a solution a little higher that works for me

Good news for Steam users!
As you can see in my guide i was confused that MSFS switching “Steam Cloud” again after game start.
Here is solution.

  • Open Steam client
  • Navigate to Steam menu item
  • Select “Settings”
  • Go to “Cloud” tab
  • UNCHECK the first option (“Enable Steam Cloud synchronization…”)
  • Check that all files “inputprofile_XXXXXX” in “userdata\YourSteamID\1250410\remote” are deleted
Now all your controller settings will store only on local machine.

And if you’ll open a controller settings you’ll that is your joysticks assignments are empty except gamepad.
Yes, only gamepad have own profile and it’s working well. DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING.
Again: DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING IN MSFS!
Sorry Microsoft Store users, i don’t have this version now and can’t check what to do if you bought your game here.
And also, your joysticks will work even if no profile, they will use default profile and you UNABLE to save your own. You can try to create it but you can select it.
Well done Asobo! Well done!

And UPD:
Once you start your simulator go to controller settings and you’ll see that is no profile name under controller name.

Click on “Preset Manager” and select duplicate. When game show dialog to save new profile click “Cancel” and now click on controller name and “Default” text will appear. Repeat it for ALL devices including mouse and keyboard.
Now you can see all your assignments but unfortunately you can’t save custom profile or edit “Default”

same here, the last udate was finally stable for me, and with this one I have ctds when I load the world map. Super frustrating. I only see 2 airplanes, bush and landing challanges are greyed out. wtf.
update - just saw, that I have to download another 37GB via content manager… good lord when is this ending

If anyone has a fix for the GoFlight throttle causing the CTD on load, please let me know. Thank you.

I fixed it by deleting only this file:

I have the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 store version and tried the deleting of folders in the WGS folder but to no avail. The simulator crashes when I click on the Activities button on the main menu, therefore I must conclude that some of us are not having issues with the peripherals, but perhaps it’s another bug introduced by this update?

I have same issue since the last update from yesterday.

This works for me-- I’ll use FSUIPC for managing controls.

Glad to hear)
And thank you for feedback.

Same here, as everyone else. Quality control much Asobo?

Didn’t you have to clear the input mappings in MSFS for your device so FSUIPC would work correctly? If you still have “Default” you would be getting double inputs.

I was about to add a reply! Yeah I just solved that by removing (moved to a backup folder) all the .xml files in /steamapps/common/Chucky/Input EXCEPT Mouse.xml and Keyboard_(FSX).xml and it’s working perfectly now.

Be sure to leave the non-.xml files alone

I found out the hard way that a null profile does cause a CTD.

I routinely used “null” profiles to swap between controllers pre patch. I use my yoke for the smaller aircraft and my stick for the larger ones. I used null profiles to “disable” the non used controller because my yoke could be rather noisy on one of the axis and conflict when I was using the stick.

I think the presence of the “totally” null profile is what killed it. I have seen others with similar hardware to mine who never had an issue. Even now, if you create a “fully” null profile and save it, it will fail.

When I rebuilt my two new “null” profiles, I made sure to assign one button do them and now everything is working properly

Once you have your default, use the preset manager copy function to create a new profile. You can save your settings in this new profile. I also have vjoy controlling my G27 pedals and it works well.

Thanks hobanagerik, I’ll root around some more and make sure I don’t have a residual profile that is a problem. I’ll make sure I am back to default on it (I had been using a profile that allowed reverse thrust/etc.)
Best,
Mark

Hi everyone!

Thank you for the feedback given here, this helps identify the source of the issue and most likely bring a solution quicker. We are currently working on it and keep you informed.

But for some of the peripherals like the virtual fly stuff there’s a default profile that assigns axes and buttons. If I don’t clear those out I get double inputs from the same and FSU IPC

I was worried when I read this yesterday before updating but installation was flawless and no CTDs with my CH Flight Yoke. Its been a great update for me. Loving the new AA and night lighting.
