There really ought to be a sticky about this, reminded Steam users to never verify content for MSFS. All it seems to do, from what I’ve read, is verify the installer, as that is all Steam distributes. The rest of it is downloaded from MS. So verify effectively uninstalls MSFS.
Yeah I think you’re right about that. It seems to kill the game. I’ve now downloaded my additional content and it show in my hangar etc. However the base package planes are all missing from the game. As Uncle Roger would say “Haiyaaaaa”
The only way I can think the game can recover my missing Aircraft is to do a full wipe of the game and reinstall / re download the game for a 3rd time
The thing is you are not given the opportunity to not install the update since it is mandatory.
I consider this p. o. s. software has been an abuse from Microsoft for all the sim community.
I narrowed down my CTD after pressing fly to a community airport mod I had installed from flightsim.to for EDTH. Once I deleted this airport mod my CTD has now seemed to go with it. https://flightsim.to/file/715/edth-heubach-germany
I had the addon linker with all my files located outside the community folder. I categorised them into subfolders by region and linked and unlinked the subfolders while restarting the simulator until I got the CTD while loading. Yes it took a while lol.
Well, I guess this is a wrap. Tried your steps. Still CTD upon trying to click the “update” button at the fuji screen. Guess I’ll wait for the next release and see if that doesn’t crash, otherwise, this is a $60 waste. Was good up until this latest 1.10.7.0 (and subsequent hotfix) release. Boo!!!
Can I send you my crash dump and see if the same conclusion (graphics card) can be drawn? If not, what’s the link to sending this stuff to the developer?
Drum roll… after rolling back nvidia driver from 457.09 to 456.71…
I’m back in action. Hit the update button on the fuji screen and instantly started the download process.
We’ll see where this goes. Mad that I deleted all my content during this process and now have to DL all of it again and probably bump up against my comcast data cap. Lame.
Now the question is… how to handle this rolled back driver issue.
Ok, so, time to come clean… I have an older nvidia card that is no longer supported, so I’ve been doing a little hacking to get the latest drivers… basically spoofing the install inf files to think my card is one that is still supported. Been working like a charm for some time now. Thing is… this latest release… I typo-ed one of the parameters… Man that is LAME… on my part.
I fixed the typo and reinstalled the drivers and now MSFS is downloading the content with no issues. Granted, I still may hit the issue you describe above but this is a huge weight off my shoulders.
Thanks so much for all the support. I’d probably not have gone down this vid driver route without the input here!
Got my first crash since the update, flying near San Jose after about 15 minutes. I do have REX weatherforce. That still might cause problems. Guess another zendesk report…Crash said nothing, just freeze, then desktop appears.
New to the forums, but have been a MS flight Sim enthusiast since FS ver 1. Can someone give me a hand with a dump file? I updated everything yesterday, and before that that everything was running fine (other than my video card is ■■■■, so had to run in “window mode” and turn the details down, but it did run. After last night updating to 1.11.7 when it starts to load the USA scenery it gets halfway done and then CTD. I have not flown the simulator in a couple of months, but like I said before it flew fine before update.
