Shot the following video a few minutes ago. This is the exact issue we were previously having.
Don’t mean to be rude, but it seems like some people are denying the issue and supporting their claims with irrelevant screenshots that nearly go out of their way to avoid showing the issue. I’m tired of refuting those claims, since I had to repeatedly when I was reporting on this issue the first time it occurred.
Compare this video to my original demonstration video (on the same channel). I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is the same issue we were experiencing previously. Textures and objects plummet in quality above a certain threshold; It’s especially noticeable on roads, parking lots, and rooftops. It even seems like the threshold distance is the same as the first time the bug occurred.
It’s unconfirmed at this moment. So far, I’ve seen only one single person claiming the bug has returned. We are waiting on further confirmation from testers.
I played on slower pc than series s and there was way better ground textures above 3000 ft - low/medium settings.
When it comes to textures and 3000-5000 ft doesnt looks just slightly blurry, it’s as bad as SimUpdate11 public. Problem is just 3000-5000 ft. Above 5000/6000 ft everything is back to normal.
Those look like they should. You see 3D buildings out in the distance and can barely make out the circle where LOD ends and 2D textures are used.
Hard to say with 100% certainty but I am inclined to agree those photos of Manhattan look correct.
What I was hoping to see was a picture from JFK airport looking at Manhattan. With proper LOD on a Series X you should see the 3D Manhattan skyline from the airport. With lowered LOD the skyline would be flat until you flew closer.
Truly, no offense, but what are you not seeing? The texture quality and polygon count drops off at twice at two separate thresholds as I pan the camera skywards. I use zoom to show how much the quality drops off at only about 1,000ft, and then again at a few thousand feet.
It depends on your settings for PC, as you can adjust various things to your liking whereas the consoles have their settings locked in. Even a slower PC can have higher settings selected than a Series S. It might cost you some FPS though.
Low and Medium textures can come in and out of focus depending on your altitude. That 3-6k zone does seem to be a bit blurry at those lower settings.
LOD issues are reproducible and folks should be able to confirm them easily at a glance. I still need more evidence based solely on what I am seeing now.
Forgive me for playing Devil’s Advocate. It is all in the spirit of finding and diagnosing an issue in a way everyone including the devs can reproduce so if a problem exists we can get it diagnosed and fixed quickly!
LOD works in a circle out from your plane so a top down view doesn’t exactly show the draw distance I would need to see to confirm with my eye.
Anyone have any mountain shots or videos from the latest build? Close mountain pop in is a telltale sign of low LOD.
No, we are talking about DRASTIC(SU11 public level) change when it comes to textures quality. 1500-3000 ft everything is perfect then 3030/3050 ft and ground textures looks way worse than low settings on pc.
tried lfll right now . seem that textures loading time came back as normal but textures look still clear but sadly quite lower résolution in general than before
the fact is that there is a global visual quality downgrade of the game .
Both LOD and mipmapping are at play in the video I uploaded. As I got further fron the ground, building polygon count decreased, which is LOD. As I got further from the ground, satellite texture quality also decreased, which is mipmapping. LOD changed along with each mip, so they even work hand in hand.
I don’t think it’s worth getting hung up on the difference between LOD and mipmapping, but regardless, they’re both at play here.
If reproduceable, that looks like a lower texture than we should see on the X, or a regression that turned off anti-aliasing.
I am NOT YET seeing LOD related issues in these photos and videos, but I am starting to see a pattern that points towards a regression in texture or anti aliasing quality.
I wish I could fly right now. My phone is a LOT smaller than my TV! Harder to see these types of details.
But I am beginning to be convinced there is some sort of regression in graphics going on. I just can NOT YET link it to LOD.
