As much as I like the historical flying aspect of the DC-6, I (personally) like to keep my flights slightly more realistic. The only current operator I know that still actively flies the DC-6 is Everets Air. Are there any still flying in some corner of the world that could facilitate some interesting trips?
It’s often useful to revisit the earlier sim versions of a plane to see what other users were doing.
Case in point:
“For those interested in flying actual routes flown by DC-6’s see the following link:”

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately, those are old timetables .
Thanks for this! What a fabulous resource. Some of the old graphics are just outstanding!
I believe Everts is the last commercial operator, unless somebody’s still flying them in Latin America. There are also some airshow/tourism aircraft - the Red Bull DC-6, and the Namibia Commercial DC-6 that PMDG modeled - it’s now owned in Texas and may wind up on the airshow circuit.
If you go back just a few years, though, you can add Northern Air Cargo in Canada, Trans Air Link in the Caribbean, and South American and African operators.
You can also treat it as an executive transport and fly it the way PMDG flies their DC-3 - on company business, on your own schedule. More interesting than a Gulfstream, I’d say…
I actually prefer flying the Six as a modern aircraft - even if you don’t use the GPS, the modern Bendix-King radios don’t quite fit in the 1950s, they’re more suited to current or recent-past operations. Of course, my taste runs to “outsider airplanes” - the kind where you don’t have to wear a necktie or work in a big corporate structure. Up through the 1990s and into the early 2000s, you’ve got lots of options that way.
But if you want present-day realism, Everts is your best bet.

Redirecting...
