Current issue with live weather and associated ctd (and possibly black screen on xbox)

Glad I paid 60 eur to get a troubleshoot simulator instead of a flight simulator… Thanks!

I just remove the test program from my Xbox re-upload the game and the live weather seem correct but I hope you understand what I’m trying to explain

The problem with the live weather is set, but the black screen on the pfd screen is still there. This morning during à flight from lfpg to EGLL, my engine end my electronics system no longer worked. I contacted the technical services end they told me " The display is going black when the battery becomes completely drained. To prevent this from happening, flip the Starter 1 switch to the OFF." but where is the starter 1 on a A320N? Thank you

I was flying on new years day and my PFD went blank. It was night, off the coast of WA, and at first I was horrified. I checked all of the electrics and couldn’t get it back on. Being fairly new to the sim and having failures enabled I thought perhaps this was an emulated failure, so I proceeded to fly and land at YRTI which was my original destination, with a completely dark plane and a short airstrip on an island it was intense and exciting. I really rather enjoyed it the first time! Just as I was taxiing off the runway the sim CTD which was mildly annoying, but at least the landing was done. Since then I’ve had several more of these PFD blank followed by CTD some time later (xbox x) and now I see that this is not an emulated failure and it’s definitely rather annoying so looking forward to it being fixed. Like others I’m flying with live weather off for now.

Do we have any idea why the weather server is taken offline at this time every day?

Speculation for sure, but as a software developer I’ve often seen that resource issues caused by problems in the code (such as memory leaks) or overloading (such as too many connections) have been temporarily alleviated by adding a daily restart to run a system from clean. It’s a poor man’s solution but can be better than it randomly failing during the day.

I’ve no idea if that’s really the case here, but given the experiences of users in this thread it doesn’t look like Asobo are entirely on top of this weather server, pushing fixes which haven’t properly worked, so I hope they are busy behind the scenes to make it better.

For me it seems that the sim itself is one big “Workaround” of what it could be … so annoying.

That may be true on a lot of planes, but that doesn’t sound correct for the A320.
It has a two stage start system.
A rotary switch beneath the throttles must be turned to the right to energize the starting system,
But the starters themselves are the small lever (aka toggle) switches directly between the throttles and this rotary switch.
You click the rotary switch to the right and then click the lever switch up (towards the front) to engage the starter for the engine you want. However, when you turn off that lever (starter) switch, you shut down the engine, so that isn’t an option for the A320.

There seems to be a bug which is causing issues with a lot of simmers that seems to have a common denominator to live weather. Mostly though, it results in a CTD.
If this bug is your issue, try with a preset weather condition. This seems to be the “fix” for those that were experiencing the CTD’s.

Something just not mentioned before but, how many simmers are Xbox insider or preview program something like that?
Because since I quit this program and re-upload the game no ctd for me, I ‘ve made a 2h30 min travel with the full glass cockpit tbm 930 and no ctd for me, the live weather was correct so, it’ s seems like no one encountered the same issue at the same times with the same condition on the same platform, this is weird.

So. I found huge performance degradation what can lead to CTD
It’s YourControl module.

It doesn’t matter live weather or not, very often it leads to a wild drop in performance and crashes to the desktop

Any proof for that? I have the drop also without yourcontrols.

Yes. Just fly with YourControl + CRJ with route above. But this does not rule out that other mods may cause similar problems (including those that go to the Ingame Store)

So I did some long legs in the F-18 with no issues 2 days ago. But as soon as I load up the B748, the longer I fly, the worse it gets. Giant performance degradation, starting with live weather or not. It is perhaps airplane specific, but I can’t relate how. The F-18 flew from Vegas at FL310 to Wyoming, refuel and to Grand Forks SD without issue. The larger aircraft may have something that causes an issue. The 74 has a weather radar that I think doesn’t really work, but it did display some precip, perhaps accurate, I couldn’t tell. The fighter doesn’t have this system. Still suggests the weather is the issue, but there has to be more testing done. We should all sample different aircraft in similar conditions and see what we result.

I have seen quite a few posts in here that do seem to point towards longer flights as being an issue.
I only fly shorter haul flights 1-2 hrs), but I use the excellent Salty mod.
I personally have had no issues.

I did a new test yesterday. Community folder clean this time as I was insisting flying with my addons installed. Last time I flew with no issues I had the same addons so I wasn`t blaming them.
With Boeing 748 I took off from Brisbane with no flight plan, just flying straight towards Australian west coast. After 2hrs everything was looking smooth so I decided to land somewhere. Around 5 minutes after I started my descent, CTD. As the other occasions, huge stutter just before the crash.

Windows events showed my video driver crashed. Not sure if it crashed because the sim crashed or the other way around. Maybe next test I will try to reinstall the driver or even get an older one.

Nice piece of troubleshoot simulator we have here… :frowning:

No, the Nvidia drivers have been causing this issue for a lot of folks.
Plenty of posts here on that.
If you don’t have the latest (497.29) you should try them.
If you already do, you may have to go back a few versions as the previous (497.09) were worse.

Here is a link to a lrge thread here on the issue.

Yeah, I know that. I’m currently on 497.29.

all have inactive yourcontrols installed

After the latest update, black displays are coming back after 2 hours of flying during descending.
After a couple of minutes the game crashes.

Are your USB ports in power saving mode?
Even those that aren’t used for controllers will cause this.
