I had hoped Asobo would be giving VR a bit more attention, as they stated that “VR is now a platform”. But this has certainly not happened. Not only have they not fixed problems existing at launch, but also they have caused regressions which remain unfixed.
I do seem to be getting better performance now, but that is due to general upgrades rather than being VR-specific. If the lifetime of FS2024 is four years (as was the case with FS2020), we are now approaching the halfway point, yet still have so many issues.
I’m astounded that this bug is so old. I never suffered from it at all using 2020 but it’s been driving me a little crazy since moving over to 2024. Surely it can’t be that difficult to fix
I added the 2024 tag to this bug many months ago, so I am surprised it is not showing up in the MSFS 2024 bug tracker.
Actually, I am not surprised because they have not fixed this bug for 4 years now in MSFS 2020, so they may as well ignore it completely for MSFS 2024 to be consistent.
An update on this. I ended up flagging my own post above to seek moderator attention to this matter (which is NOT the proper way to do it BTW ), and it has been confirmed that this bug is being tracked internally for both MSFS 2020 and 2024, even if it does not show up in all published bug tracker information. Now all we have to do is wait …
Unfortunately this is getting to happen too often. This topic is one of the bugs that really annoys me, but so is the windows reflection bug - again this is bug-logged and even “planned” for solution in SU4. Like this bug topic, it needs to be cured on a plane-by-plane basis rather than a universal change in the core sim, and so far only I know of only one plane that has been partially fixed, with over 30 outstanding.
So I’m not holding my breath for either of these significant problems. Sadly, despite all the promises of customer focus, I honestly believe they will never be completely fixed.
