Curved G1000 flight path?

Yes. I’ve been having the same problem with curved segments between waypoints and transitions to an approach. The most annoying is when I’m flying direct to an airport and I load an approach. It then creates a curved path from my current position to the IAF (such that I reach the IAF close to the runway heading). It should instead create a straight path to the IAF and then fly the charted procedure turn (depicted as an oval on the approach plates) to line up with the runway and the approach. This needs to be fixed, hopefully in the next update.

By the way, the pictures above that show the curved paths are definitely not the way the real G1000 works. When you are flying between waypoints, ATC expects you to fly a straight line between the waypoints, and not a curved path as shown above. Imagine how difficult it would be for ATC to keep planes separated if they were all flying curved segments like that.

What the real G1000 WILL do, however, is alert you as you are approaching a waypoint for when you should start the turn to the next waypoint so as to not overshoot the charted course. The G1000 will also command the Flight Director (which is what the autopilot follows) to initiate the turn, so if you are on autopilot, the plane will begin to turn toward the next waypoint a few seconds before it reaches the active waypoint (but that is a long cry away from the curved paths shown above).
