DA40NG Brakes are almost non-existent in MSFS 2024

I’ve managed to reproduce the dead stick landing scenario: in that case the brakes seem to work fine. In other words, it might not be the brakes themselves, as @TallestParsley2 suggests, but the throttle at idle provides too much thrust, slowing down the brake efficiency.

I really had high-hopes for an SU5 solution. It really doesn’t seem like a very difficult fix.
Alas, it didn’t happen.
Airbus and Boeing seemed to get most of the “love” on this one. Our numbers are probably too few.

Yep…the ~95% of sim users are loud yelling Boebus fan boys, so this is what we get…

I just tried the DA40NG for curiosity and after I landed I couldn’t stop rolling. It was as if the brakes were barely being applied. So I switched to the TDI same thing. Then I switched to the Cirrus SR22, which had perfectly functional brakes when I shut down the simulator last night, and all of a sudden now its brakes don’t work properly anymore. The heck?

pls :sob: Half a year later and this issue is still present. How can an airliner have better braking performance than what’s essentially a glider with an engine.

Still not there in SU6 beta

It has been logged, I’m sure they’ll get to it :slightly_smiling_face:

For this whole time there’s no way to finish landing challenge normally in Dune without overrunning the runway. (Unless you turn off engine, glide close to stall speed and set parking brake on to get full braking as soon as you touch the ground)

Like how people said in this thread, the braking force just isn’t enough, and more importantly, the engines fadec are also incorrectly represented, the rpm is too correlated to the airspeed, idle thrust on ground takes years for rpm to drop; idle in the air at 75 kt, the rpm shows more than 1600 rpm. Ridiculous. Therefore besides lacking braking power, the propeller/ engine is producing way too much thrust which in terms negatively add to the problem.

I’m hopeful. Often, plane updates don’t come until the final release. That’s been historically how most have been done.

They also announced there will be follow-up AAU updates, so that’s another possible landing spot.

There are a lot of “low hanging fruit” default plane fixes I’m waiting for.
