Daher TBM 930 autopilot no longer working

anyone else having the same issue? When I try and click the AP button, autopilot fails to engage. I’ve tried the key bindings and same issue, can’t get autopilot to work. Haven’t had this issue before. Anyone experiencing the same? Any work around or is this a new bug?

Are you flicking the switch above your head too?

Easy to forget… I know

Just as a guess, did you enable the autopilot over your head on the far right side? If that is off, no AP. And I have been using the TBM autopilot a LOT.

To engage any autopilot the aircraft should be stable and trimmed to fly hands free at the desired attitude first, You could try that though I do not know if it will help with this,

Same as you. TBM works find before but since yesterday the autopilot bugs came out again as usual. And that confirmed the bugs of autopilot were never fixed.

Have you enabled this switch on the upper panel?

I’m in the TBM right now and no issues here.

Just out of interest, what does the AP OFF setting do v the OFF setting for this switch? Thanks

Off is no AP / Auto Trim.

AP OFF = no AP, but auto trim (could be mistaken on this one)

ON = All AP functions on.

Ok, thanks - so I think that would mean if the switch is set to AP OFF, and you press the AP button, that would auto trim the plane to level flight, but not do any other AP functions? Is that right? Sorry if these are stupid questions.

EDIT - I should probably go and try it!

I did a 4hr flight yesterday starting at 11:00 Eastern time. No issues. Like everyone else here said, make sure the switch above your head is on. I’ve noticed in a couple of planes that there are new/different switches in the off position when I spawn on the runway. Cessna 172 G1000 with the alt battery and pitot heat is one that comes to mind.

I have the same issue, I didn’t know about the switch.

While I fly the TBM often, I never use that setting. I always have AP fully on whether I use AP or hand fly. So that’s why I quantified my reply with the “could be mistaken” part. Although I do believe that’s how it operated based on something in a YouTube video I watched early after the game was released.

I had this happen yesterday and i started at the end of the runway, im thinking i may have accidentally flucked that top button which is also new to me. Had a go this morning and the AP was funcional. Thx for posting, something else learnt today.

Thanks, I’ll try it later and report back. It may not be modelled in the sim of course

If you guys are interested, here’s a video for a quick and easy startup procedure for the TBM that will get you in the air in no time. If you use the auto start or start on the runway, always take a look up at the top panel to ensure that the auto fuel selector and AP are selected. The Ctrl-E auto start doesn’t enable them, and I’m not sure if they’re enabled if you start on the runway, as I haven’t done that in quite a while.

Excellent thank you.Note if you start on the runway, frequently the cabin lights are off -so don’t forget that one above your head either.

Yeah. It’s a good idea to double check all this stuff on any plane when doing an auto or on runway start to ensure that everything is enabled. I find there seems to be more things not enabled (that should be) on the TBM. Particularly that overhead panel since the TBM has many functions not included in other GA aircraft.

I feel pretty stupid, that’s what it was!

Thanks everyone

No fail to engage the AP. But somehow the trim goes bananas when enabling alt hold… it gets full nosedive. No matter how well the aircraft was trimmed before. This not only happends with the TBM, but a raid other aircraft using this garmin system…

It’s a very sporadic thing. I haven’t seen it happen on the TBM since the last patch, yet it happens to me on the Longitude, C172, VL3, C208 and other planes quite frequently.
