Dash 8-100 nearing completion

I’ll add it to my list of aircraft I’ve flown around the world in in flight simulator in

My list so far of aircraft flown around the world

  1. CRJ 700
  2. BAE 145 200

Any news? Havent heard Nothing from the for a while

Me in 2025 still waiting😂

Dead-and no one else working on a 100/200/300, Majestic bringing the Q300/Q400 of course.

Check your facts before posting. Majestic has clearly communicated the intention of bringing both the Q300 and Q400 to the sim.

I know that virtualcol is releasing a q100 at the end of august a 200 in september and a 300 in oktober but i don’t expect a lot from it.

Also i know that there is another development team is currently working on the dash 8.

Ooh, interesting!

Virtualcol just released their Dash 8-100 for 2024 today in the marketplace. Knowing the quality of their products, we know they’re not the best but maybe worth looking into it.

Virtualcol planes are mostly just fun to fly, lacking systems depth-mostly using default systems and avionics, not the best but I’ll fly their Dash 8-100 anyway out of YLHI.

This one actually looks like it might have a bit more going for it than their previous offerings… Analogue instrumentation certainly helps - Less to get wrong. For the low price of admission, and with low expectations, I think I might be willing to give it a shot.

Thanks-will give it a go too out of YLHI in the QantasLink livery, IRL SmartLynx Australia now operates the Dash 8-100.

Update: I regret my decision on the Virtualcol… Don’t know why I thought this one would be different.

There’s potential for this to be something worthwhile, but desperately needs some fixes in order to be serviceable or enjoyable.

  1. HSI doesn’t work when using FMS navigation, so although the aircraft will fly your flight plan on autopilot, there is no way to manually fly your course and monitor your deviation. Unless you’re solely flying VORs, navigation is useless.

  2. Very bizarre autopilot logic, but that’s entirely expected with Virtualcol.

  3. Engine parameters are completely out of whack. WAY overpowered on the ground, and somehow underpowered at the same time once at altitude…. ECU does nothing. The torque fluctuates wildly and constantly which causes this strange and annoying oscillation in flight.

  4. Low-poly textures abound, but again, that’s expected with Virtualcol. Though I will say, the exterior model is decent, as is most of the flight deck.

What’s the verdict brother… worth it just for a dash 8 or not?

Im tempted hard with the potential ansett nz livery and I fly the bae 146, could I make do with the radio navigation, do they work all good?

Nope, or at least not yet. It’s not far off, honestly, but not in the current state. Navigation aside (radio nav seems to work perfectly fine, for what it’s worth), they really need to do something about those engines - It’s just not enjoyable to fly.

An air Inuit livery would tempt me into buying a dash 8 100

Well they do include an Air Inuit livery! The livery selection is expansive. Look - It’s a decent enough looking Dash 8 model (inside and out) that flies, for less than a meal at McDonalds. If that’s all you’re asking of it, then it may well be worth it for some folks. I uninstalled it for now, but wouldn’t hesitate to revisit it in the future if they release an update that resolves some of these issues.

Tempted to try the Virtualcol Dash8. But know I will be disappointed

Really need a Dash8-100/200 for the Norwegian STOL network.

How does she fly? Speed 160ish in climb: what rate of climb is she doing? Can she dive steeply without speeding up? Slows down w/props full? Landing speed? (Just saw the tutorial landing at 140ias😵‍💫).

I can live with some quirks, if she flies reasonably well…

That’s the catch 22 for me, I want to just suck it up and accept it for what it is and hope that these guys use that money to reinvest in their products to give them the updates they need but… I don’t want to also be that one that supports average developers and take away future business from any future developers.

Like you say..

It is a price of a happy meal

I sent feedback for a SmartLynx Australia livery to complement the existing QantasLink livery, as they now operate the Dash 8 100 that QantasLink previously used-same tail number incidentally IRL

Has anyone sent feedback for future updates to correct things to VirtualCol?
