I was busting their ## on how to manipulate the pilots head movement,in order for me to create some content, and they were replying to me via messages on how to,instead of telling me to buzz off !
I am forever gratefull

FWIW- I was flying about month ago from KMGE to KLTS, and cursing around 35,000, and ran out of fuel. B model. I extended probe, retracted, extended and retracted to get lots of fuel in tanks. Was gliding down and was able to air start engines at about 22,000 feet. That was experience I can tell you. I had never air started engines before, and just remember reading I think in the manual it was possible and was looking for place to land so as not to bend plane.

On another flight just the other day, messing around, I actually was descending rather sharply, full throttle, external camera view to get sonic boom, and the screen went dark for few seconds, and then realized I had passed out from G effects, since I have that enabled in settings, now that was unpleasant, I can tell you. Never did hear sonic boom but was able to land safely and then jump out of the plane and puke. Never did like to pass out.

Cannot wait for the update, and the new liveries look better than fantastic. I will change my B model to the Jolly Roger once available.

HOWEVER, DC Designs is the best vendor bar none, as I have stayed in this thread to keep up and you guys never fail to help. Just appreciate the customer service you give to all. Better than excellent.

I just want to say I have been flying the military planes so much the past month, and I am learning more and more about them and what they were designed to do. My performance expectations vs what they should be in real life, and how accurate the developers seem to be in terms of the flight physics.

The F-14 is just so awesome. The look, the FEEL, the speed, the Mach Tuck, the wings folding in. It makes you feel like you are flying a military jet.

I’ve had this Tomcat for almost a year. It is still giving me so much joy. I only recently discovered the refuel probe and was tickled when I realized later that my fuel had gone up.

So many times in the past I would fly under someone in an airliner, and I’d fly under them and “pretend” I was refueling and I’d bring up the manual fuel icon. Now I can simply press a button in the cockpit which makes the experience that much more immersive.

If there is anyone who happens to read this post and is or has been on the fence about purchasing, there are only a few planes I would say are a must buy. This is one of them.

I was flying the F-14 tonight and I was noticing an issue with the radios that has appeared again. I usually fly without a flight plan but tonight I decided to use an IFR flight plan to fly a distance between two airports. When I took off, ATC kept telling me that my transponder wasn’t working even though I had entered the code in correctly. It appears that the transponder stopped working with one of the patches and that it is not transmitting to ATC.

Ugh, nothing’s changed with the Tomcats so it sounds as though one of the mini-updates to the sim might have broken things again. I won’t do anything just yet, in case another sim update fixes it again - seems to be the way of things at the moment.

ETA - it might be the mode switch needs updating, something about your post reminded me. Either way, it’ll get fixed :+1:

Im right there with you. Im heading over the Himalayas tonight in the Bravo. I honestly have more of a passion for advanced computer avionics. The D model would be ideal to me but I totally understand that would be a ton of work just for an F14B with fancier stuff like auxiliary screens for TPODs we cant even use. I always wondered why it remained such a popular design amongst the community. I dont believe any have been any airworthy outside of Iran for over 10 years. After my little taste of how it feels, I keep going back to it.

New to MSFS and downloaded the Tomcat 2 days ago from the Marketplace for PC, not realizing if I bought it direct from the developer it would have some additional ordnance options - I read through this thread and tried the suggestion of requesting a refund from Steam but got the following response…any other recourse recommended short of buying it twice?

Message from you on Jan 11 @ 12:18pm | 2 days ago

Hi, I purchased the DC Designs F-14 Tomcat for Microsoft Flight Simulator through the MSFS marketplace and didn’t realize that purchasing it in this way restricted the ability to add ordnance to the plane, a feature that I’ve learned is available by purchasing from the third party developer directly. I would like to have my Steam purchase refunded back to my original method of payment in order to repurchase direct from the developer. This lack of functionality was not indicated in the marketplace listing. Thank you.

We have reviewed your refund request.

We cannot grant a refund at this time. In-game item purchases are not refundable if any items in the purchase have been consumed, modified, or transferred.

The response you received was from Steam correct?

As much as I empathize with your situation, this is pretty much the norm for many forms of digital purchases. Sorry Steam couldn’t refund your purchase, but your issue seems to be with steam and their policy regarding 3rd party purchases.

My buddy on PC did the same thing. I kept telling him beforehand over and over that if he wanted the hard point options he should go to Justflight or somewhere else to buy it. We were flying together and he asks me “so how to I put missiles on here?” “I cant just mod this version?” I do believe I wouldn’t be able to see him properly anymore if he did have them. Which would suck. If only the prospect of air combat was explored for this game. The possibility of air PvP over the entire planet seems like it would be amazing. Would steamroll DCS Even if simplified. But the E rating and all that. It wont happen. Its not what Im here for anyway. I just need external tanks! Why did they do the Super Hornet dirty. The Tomcat gets over twice the range! Im hanging around in R-2515 airspace every day I get the chance to play. I want to form up with some other cats. You can legally go super sonic there IRL.

I hate this too. I don’t think Microsoft realise how many people they’re upsetting by not allowing weapons on the Marketplace versions. I have written to them twice about it, but they just ignore the messages ( from me and others ). It should be made much clearer on their store that weapons are non-functional when for sale there.

Happy to join in when I can, I love the “Cat” and keep going back to it…

Need to practice more formation flying, and carrier landings.

Was having fun with the f14 today. Tried a takeoff with one engine on, maneuvering in flight and then landing on the one engine. It was very flyable, although I had to use afterburner for takeoff on the one engine. It was fun to try it

I haven’t tried one engine ops yet…. I hear there is a LOT of Yaw with only one engine…

For what it’s worth, losing an engine on a catapult shot from a carrier is probably a near-instant ejection decision. At high thrust and low speed, the rudders have very little control authority, and one engine likely means you don’t have enough thrust to continue a safe climb.

On a runway, one of the FAA design certification requirements for civilian twin-engine aircraft is loss of thrust in an engine at or near the Vr speed, when you don’t have enough runway to safely stop. The aircraft must remain controllable even at minimum speed and trying to climb out for a go-around and return to landing.

I don’t believe the FAA regulations are directly applicable to aircraft for military service, but they certainly inform the design process. Specific design requirements are as set forth in the myriad pages and schedules of the contract and all the referenced mil-std’s cited in those contracts.

Thanks, I’m been following and learning PPL procedures for my own personal knowledge. Now working on learning IFR and when the TwOtter drops next week I’ll work on the dual engine certs…

Ha ha I had an engine flame out the other day, could not get it to start again but limped to the nearest airport safely. Still not sure what I did to cause it (pilot error no doubt) but it was a fun experience to bring her in safe.

Still, would be nice to have a working ejection seat/parachute.
