I also have 100s of hours of rotorcraft flight time in sims and found it very straining and unnecessarily difficult. I barely squeaked through the Hoist and Sling certs with the trimless H125 on a HOTAS setup.
@twenty4fan9O I’ve compared several different sat imagery providers and while Bing is the most up-to-date, it isn’t the highest quality. Being up to date just means it was compiled more recently, not that it is visually improved in any way. Google sat data from 2015 is of better quality than 2023 data despite being older.
I always said while 2024 was not ready at release it will eventually become a good sim, now i’m starting to re think that, the developers seems to have no clue and are disconnected from the userbase
I just tried again - the one in the mountain where you have to deliver cargo - this is not how one is supposed to fly a helo. No trimming - that is just insane.
Well he did say it was a form of apologies for this rough launch, so technically if we accept the apologies, we should carry on. My wife on the other hand accepts all my apologies and still remembers everything, so I’m going to follow her example. She’s really good at that.
There are more people playing 2020 in the last days than 2024…
And the '24 average daily players is less and less day by day, even under '20…
Congratulations to the best you’ve ever made.
From what I took from the dev stream, is the online flight planner is not ready. The sim, was not ready or tested. They have no idea what we want and what to do to fix alot of the major bugs
I’m a bit disappointed in the reports coming from early 2024 VR adopters, as well. I’m holding off until I can be sure my 4090 14900k will run this in VR at a stable, locked in 45 FPS with (mostly) ultra settings and native res like I can run in 2020.
Quick question re: the cockpit interactions. I have seen reports that the VR mouse interactions are broken. How about the use of the VR controller’s ‘laser pointer’ access to controls and toolbar items? I never use the VR mouse and only use the controllers to interact. How is that working in 2024?
Then the sim will always reduce your level of detail extremely and it will be all blurry. That is not what is intended for, it does not work that way that you just enter what fps you wish to have
Yeah I’m frustrated at this release and the norm that is being accepted.
being told from June 2023 that a new sim was coming. having 17 months to prepare and this is what happens? what were you guys doing? and you locked yourself in to releasing it this year due to it’s title.
the norm of, oh 2020 took a long time to become good, so same thing here. oh well. so being ok with a half baked game, paying $100+ for partial enjoyment and accepting it’s fine to just release it. if you set 2024 as a date, then that meant over drive to make it work. if working extra hours was too hard to meet 2024, then call it a generic title so you have an easy way to delay.
you don’t see other big title games releasing poorly. hey lets get the new cod, or madden, or racing game but don’t worry, $70 later, in 4-6 months you can use it. no, those just work from the start
Thank you for the stream. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the launch and the first batch of issues/fixes.
As I’m an Xbox simmer, however, I feel a bit underwhelmed and neglected. The Xbox version (especially if played without a mouse) has severe UX/UI related issues that make it very hard to fly. There are problems with the Cursor Mode in flight, the walkaround mode and the Center Dot. These are fundamental operational bugs, yet I’m not sure if these will be looked at because they don’t get as many votes as others. Also, basically all the graphical and performance issues on Xbox have been swept under the rug with the excuse of “memory limitations”, while 2020 both looks and runs better on the same hardware, and it was promised that the 2024 code would be even more performant.
I also appreciate the demonstration from Working Title. I didn’t know it was possible to send a flight plan from the Planner to Xbox, that’s something I’ll have to try later. Sadly, big planes don’t work on Xbox and all the other bugs in the simulator currently overshadow any innovation WT has come up with.
On one hand, I’m glad the developers are on some of the issues (not that anything else was expected of course), but on the other hand I’m left worried, because there are fundamental problems with the Xbox version which now I’m not sure will ever be fixed and polished.
