December 4th 2024 Developer Livestream - Discussion

It is pointless setting a value so high - it is just taxing the system unnecessarily. There is no guarantee it will be achieved.

Apparently it is aimed at low end systems to boost the fps to a usable level.

As far as i’ve seen, Bing has the most up to date sat imagery in most places. However, in the game this really can only apply to non-photogrammetry/TIN cities. TIN cities will be stuck in time with no easy way to update them without replacing them altogether.

Xbox too and agreed i am not convinced the console can run 24 correctly and at a reasonable standard!

It just needs to be deleted manually

Never thought I’d see the day that MSFS forum denizens were mad about hearing cool stuff from Working Title.

WT’s presence was necessary to point out that effective flight planning for 2024 can still be done, but not in-game or even on the EFB until next year.

@Vibstronium “but they had cheese sandwiches at Fyre Fest!”

Interesting to see “anti aliasing” on that screenshot. That is missing on XBox and results in a very ugly view whenever there are straight lines. Also when looking at a city from a distance. Graphic quality of the FS2024 is far worse than FS2020 on XBox.

to each their own. in the end, none of us are in charge & just have to wait & see.

Did they say anything about the Brazil World Update?

Well, my co-pilot just watched the livestream with me, and he’s purring. That must be a good sign.

Coming after the new year, no date given.

Absolutely, all we can do is wait and see, and let them cook, and in the meantime use MSFS 2020 which isn’t a bad Plan B.

that’s what I’ll do, and load up 2024 time to time. back to 2020. I just wish I could get my money back but amazon doesnt do that for this

I have been studying the textures of the game from the very beginning and was interested to find that in some places, ArcGIS maps are used instead of Bing

In summary, the impression I came away with from the stream was that the major problem had been overcome (streaming problems), and that the rest was just tidying up.

I don’t think they truly realise the number of problems remaining with the sim, and the work required to remedy them.

Thanks! Better late than never, I guess…

Stay positive and happy flying! It’ll all be ok!

I think we agree a little more than my reply made it seem like.

@BarerHarmony980 Pushed to Jan/Feb 2025 because of the bad launch. You’d think they’d release it immediately to make up for the bad launch but that’s Asobo logic.

Yep hopefully in a few month’s time we’ll all get our money’s worth from this sim.

I really need to get another kitty copilot. This melts my cold tough sim pilot heart!
