Just the opposite on my last flight. Daylight was fine, after dark on approach/landing -stutters slow frame rate
As I also said above, Iāve done all these tests with NO addons, Marketplace or Community, and without head trackers, LNM or anything else running.
Just plain, bare simple Asobo code running, and it reliably starts to have a problem after a couple of hours.
Just trying to save you hours of testing, cos Iāve done days of testing.
Well letās hope Asobo read this thread. It surely must give them some clues.
Before S(F)U5, I could fly 8+ hours without anything like this happening. If anything, when flying long flights in the tubes, the performance would get better as I was āWay Up Thereā. Not now though.
Yeah I forgot this:
11700k, RTX 3090, 32 GB 3200, Samsung Nvme 980, 80GB rolling cache
Dude, 80 GB Rolling Cache? Does that big a cache seem to help?
I honestly donāt know
but I have the space so I figured, why not
I never ran cache before SU5. I did it to help with the pop-ins. Seemed to help (maybe). I might turn it back off.
I noticed that if you fly the same area or start from the same airport, the flight seems to loads faster.
In my case the 80 gb rolling cache is a remnant from pre su5
I suspect they are not reading this stuff.
Well I already files a thread about this in Zendesk containing 4 messages.
Think I will add a 5th message containing a link to this thread, just to give it the best chance.
We all seem pretty much agreed on the conditions which cause this problem, so it should guide them to the problem.
Thanks for doing that.
Based on my experiences with Zen, ya might as well write it down, put in a bottle and throw it in the ocean.
Maybe your luck will be better. I hope so.
That cracked me up ![]()
I totally understand your feelings. But we can only try.
I think it is appalling that Asobo DEVs donāt show up in these forums and we get virtually no feedback to ever indicate that they are even reading all this stuff we take the time to write.
Youād think theyād learn from the experience of the Tree Draw Distance problem. I campaigned for that since before release, and we were basically ignored.
Yet it was someone in the forums who eventually pointed out that it was related to latitude, and then the got it fixed after 15 months.
OK this thread is now linked in my long detailed Zendesk report, which also includes several videos of the problem occuring.
Because it is faaaaaarrrr more complex than that. End ofā¦
Letās not dilute this thread with discussion of this please.
Here is what I see some hours into a flight.
Smooth animation when the view direction and position is static
Crackling and very jerky when the view is moved or panned.
If you had the GPU/CPU OSD on during this, you would probably noticed the GPU utilization dropping from the normal 100% to <50% and the CPU increasing up to 70% instead of the normal 20-25% during this panning. Thatās what I noticed. It appears to be the result of the GPU bottlenecked by the sudden and unexplained increase in CPU load. Or maybe itās RAM or VRAM leak like what was suggested.
But what really ā ā ā ā ā ā me off? I (or you for that matter) shouldnāt be the one having to troubleshoot this ā ā ā ā . Iām the paying customer not the developer. I want it fixed, period.
I did have my CPU/GPU/FPS stats on screen while capturing this, but unfortunately the capture software did not include the overlay.
My GPU was only loaded about 38% during this cruise, and my CPU at about 50. During the problem phase the GPU only increased to about 50% and the CPU spiked between about 60 and 95%.
I understand your sentiment regarding having to test all this problematic software. It is a complex beast, so I expect some problems along the way, but there have been far too many, and far to much reliance on normal customers testing what should be a beta test phase, and that is not good for the image of the product or the sanity of the paying customers.
The whole experience would feel more positive if we only saw some DEV presence in these forums with some direct discussion and feedback with the users, especially as they have deemed us all to be beta testers.
You certainly couldnāt ever organise a simming party around this sim at present, as who knows what state the sim might be in on the appointed day.
I have same problem..but i have opened a ticket and included the link referencing the thread in the ticket. So hopefully they readā¦
