Development of sim skunk works LOCKHEED TF-FRF-104 G

Did my first successful landing earlier. The key to this is proper power management. This aircraft doesn’t like low-power approaches. Next is reading the manual in-depth and refining technique.

Try this standard pattern:

Overfly field at 325 KIAS / flaps T/O.
50° bank /2G for downwind leg
240 KIAS on downwind leg, drop landing gear and LND flaps (keep in mind about BLC,never chop throttle under 80/81%.)
Base leg at 200 KIAS
Final: 190 KIAS,decelerate until 160 KIAS and land.

KEEP THIS IN MIND!!: These speeds are for a touchdown with 1000 or lower lbs of fuel.
For every 1000 lbs exceeding,add 5 knots.

For example,if you have 3000 lbs of total fuel,add 10 knots…etc.

Furthermore:
Get zipper_hints.pdf on /docs
Last pages report landing diagrams and procedures.
Also SECTION 2 of AFM has same procedure.

May i please ask,why there are no other camera views while in showcase mode(when pressing the view button on the xbox gamepad) as also in the G91 ?

Really getting to grips with this aircraft. It’s great in VR and up there with the best.
Just needs some enhancements with the sound in my view.

stay don’t understand, external gauge 13+klb internal - 7+ so 44000 arrow show half on internal fuel gauge… don’t get it, if she can take only 44k, why internal gauge end of scale is 7k?
p.s. 13 is 130 7 is 70 of course, 13 and 7 is numbers x1000 on gauges so
p.p.s. must be time to bed, wrote crazy 44000 and start to correct by this mistake lol confuse my self, nobody do it so good lol

Well the single seat G can hold 5746lbs of fuel and I believe there were versions that had no gun and higher capacity.

i start to got it, it’s unified gauges for different versions of f-104, so 7k must be for single set fighter(what i would prefer btw  )

What’s the optimal real-world altitude and air speed for maximum range for the tf-104g?

That’s a good question, in both this and the older version for FSX/P3D the plane seems to have a hard time at higher alts unless it’s screaming along and I generally cruise between 15,000 and 20,000 feet.

It’s an interceptor, high and fast, boom and zoom.

Did you find paintkit useful? Every time is a little bet to put them together…

will be included on next release…

Hi!
Thanks for this beauty! Really enjoyable to fly, low and high!

I just wanted to report few things that may be improved in the next patch:

  • tendancy to roll right (maybe already mentioned. At least on my side, can’t let her fly straight and level if I release the stick)
  • possibility to have reverse thrust : if you are at idle and reduce throttle (I use a key for this), you’ll end up with the first and only reverse-capable F104  . You can even taxi backwards
  • LNSTF livery seems that it needs correction on the roughness layer (wings, tails and tanks are shiny)

Not anything preventing from enjoying the Lady anyway.
Thanks!

Hello,

  • no roll tendency here, may you fine tuning stick dead zone ?
  • yep, since dragchute drag uses reverse if you force reverse with the key it will push back
  • sure painter will correct if any

always fly at APC reading = 0.92, you’ll have best range at all conditions.
If you cannot maintain that apc without AB it means you have to descent at a lower altitude

BTW:
Flight Manual have several tables about range and loiter.

Yes definitely useful, however it seems to be very resource heavy. I use Gimp for just about everything when skinning and the paint kit really loads up my system when compared to other multi layer templates. Also, when saving as a .psd file I can’t re-open it with Gimp unless I save it as a native Gimp .xcf file instead.

Thanks for these answers.
Strange, I get the roll tendency only with the TF-104…
