Disable overclock

msfs-2024
Absolutely no computer person.
My initial flight was very poor fps.
I disabled the overlock option on nvidia app. And brilliant. From low teens to 30+.
Maybe this is no news, I just thought to share it in case it helped some.

Are you referring to the “power management mode” setting in the Nvidia control panel?

The setting that’s either “Normal” or Prefer maximum performance" ?

Could be that wording. Sorry pulled away from my Sim at the moment. I just flicked the green switch to off and and restore. It cleared up the sim straight away.

This is it:

Yes. I only mentioned it if people had it active. It fixed my sim up instantly in flight. I was just experimenting, trying to fix low fp’s. Thanks for the screen capture, I only had a short time to post the original message.

Ahhh the “Nvidia GeForce Experience (app)” something I opt out of when I’m installing new Nvidia drivers.

I’ve been using MSI Afterburner to control the same settings.

Did you let it fully tune first or was tuning while playing? When it is fully tuned it shouldn’t cause any problems, it stays well below max specs.

This is like the copium of - Disable XR-Tool-kit, as it took me from teens to 1000fps.

Place your bets, this wont work.

As Of 2024, Support For Openxr Toolkit Is Discontinued. There Is No New Development And No Tech Support Of Any Sort. The Developer Does Not Recommend To Install/Use Openxr Toolkit, As It Is Known To Cause Issues With Many Of The Newer Games Released In Since 2024.

Well I don’t know what to say, as it worked for me. Flying with poor performance. Put on the developer mod and frames counter. My GPU was red lining at 130. It was stuttering at 13fps. Google said to lower any overclocking, so I opened nvidia app, pressed restore and instantly my GPU dropped down to 20. My fps shot up to 30to 40. I did nothing else. Your belief may vary.

That is not GeForce Experience. The picture is of the NVidia App. Totally different. It is newly “officially” released. You have to go and get it from NVidia, it is not part of driver installation.

Most likely it was being thermally throttled due to the overclock leading to higher temperatures, with poorer performance. In that situation removing the overclock and stabilising the temperature can indeed increase performance. It’s a specific situation where that would work, but it’s good to let people know that this can happen.

Thanks for the info,

Ok great. Its off, and did not change a thing. End of story there.

But thanks for that.

You shouldn’t. The new Nvidia app is a stark improvement.
