Discussion: Microsoft Flight Simulator now available via Xbox Cloud Gaming

there is a limit how much stuff one can install on the Cloud Version, hmmm.

So then there is no way my MSFS is linked to cloud. I have never subsribed to Xbox for gamepass as I have no Xbox

Xbox Gamepass is also available for PC, the Ultimate version includes the Xbox version, the PC version and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

If you’re a videogamer, it’s a really nice thing to have, like Netflix for videogames.

But again no, your PC installation is not linked to the cloud version which you do not even have.

Yes, cloud = Game Pass Ultimate

Even if you haven’t an Xbox and only play on PC, this could be interesting. There is 409 games available on PC (only on Windows Store, not Steam), and 344 on cloud. All Microsoft’s games are in Game Pass since their launch, day on (yes, including, Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, etc
). So, if you are interested to play other games, it’s a good deal.
If you want only Flight Simulator on cloud
it’s clearly not interesting, it’s too expensive, forget.

Not quite true it seems: since I used fs2020 during a short trial in the Cloud my XBOX profile seems to have been synced up. This leads to the fact that in General Settings, Data tab the entries to adjust bandwidth and rolling cache have disappeared. Don’t know if this was intended to be that way. My assumption for now is that MS/Asobo overlooked the need for an independant set of individual settings for each environment: PC, XBox & Cloud.

yes, there is only one profile
rolls eyes.

If I have purchased PC version, through the MS Store, does that also allow me to run under my account, on my suitable SmartPhone, via the Cloud , and have access to all the content I have purchased through the MS-Store, on my smartphone session ?

Follow on question. Can I also run the cloud version, on my Android head unit in my car (lets “assume” when I am NOT driving !! )

No, even if you have bought FS, you need Game Pass Ultimate for cloud

Thanks, that a definite NO to cloud MSFS, and flying & driving the same time
 proabably a life saver !!

I see it differently. It can be both. More simmers, more revenue, more personnel to improve the sim further and further.
The other thing: it’s not for us to say what they must do. They have their mission statement and product roadmap and ear for the installed base. It’s for each and everyone personalky to decide which sim suits the best to their needs.

I was afraid that it would turn out this way. So Msfs isn’t completely cross-platform after all
would have been nice it a premium purchase would also cover cloud gaming. Maybe it’s different companies running the on site vs cloud base?

Thank you MS. good job, I tested it and it works as it is supposed to, very good.

But cloud gaming is a service from Microsoft XBox. It’s not specific for MSFS. So regardless of which package you purchased, you may still not entitled to use the Cloud Gaming services if you’re not subscribed to it.

An analogy would be, just because you purchased a movie in physical Blu-Ray for a full price. Doesn’t mean it allows you to login to Netflix to stream the same movie without you paying for an active subscription to Netflix.

It’s a completely different service, and MSFS just “piggybacks” on the Cloud gaming platform. Just like every other games piggybacking on the same service platform.

I understand. I just had false hope after msfs was free to use on xbox with a pc license.
Maybe I hoped that we were allowed to play msfs only on the cloud with the same license. I don’t want to play anything else :face_with_tongue:

Well it is free to use on XBox as long as you buy your PC version through the Microsoft Store. You just have to install the game on the XBox console the same way you would install it on your PC.

Ok had this working on Mac Mini M1 via Xcloud on Chrome browser with my Thrustmaster Hotas joystick. It also showed up as controller named: “THRUSTMASTER 16000M FCS”. X Y axis adjustments etc was possible and I could fly with it. But now it disappeared? Confusing

ps. to get started, I needed to reset the controller profile on the XBOX Series X to “standard” otherwise you cannot go out of the menu’s.
