Discussion + Poll: Sim Update V (1.18.13.0)

I have let them know, probably along with a lot of other people. A nd, barely an acknowledgement, unless you are talking on their behalf!

You’re kidding right??? So bringing the sim over to XBOX (whilst also wrecking the sim for PC users) isn’t meant to increase revenue 10+ fold??? Stop kidding yourself.

I’m talking on my own behalf as a consumer like the rest of you. However, I’m a reasonable person and I don’t see the need for legal action. Nothing is 100% perfect. You want examples just like at Oblivion and Skyrim, and even with their multitude of issues, those games got high accolades and praise. The same goes for Flight Simulator.

  1. I wish they would stop “enhancing” the sim as it only seems to get worse when they do.
  2. I wish they WOULD charge for these “enhancements”, because then they would be OPTIONAL - fine by me.

and by charging for those enhancements they would need to ensure the didnt break the sim or degrade the user experience to make sure that they were aligned with consumer law. So yea, I would be ok with that.

We’ve all been begging for the past year for them to make updates optional. The fanboys always argue that they “need to keep the sim on the same playing field for compatibility blah blah blah”. Plenty of other softwares manage to function with users across different release versions so…

I suggest you guys contact Jörg Neumann because it seems he’s the only person who’ll fix everything, or do you want to talk to Alain Guyet, the programmer of Flight Simulator? You could even contact Xbox Game Studios because they developed it.

But it IS an online game… Give me An example of An online only multiplayer game you can play without updating it …

That being said, this update clearly wasn’t ready to be shipped

I have never once played it multiplayer. Online for data yeah, but their severs aren’t all revamped every update, they are not.

Said after every “enhancement” and/or update. But hey, they’re beta testing…

36 hours 8 downloads and a fresh instal of windows 10 to get MSFS to download and work.

The worst installation of any software in my life bar none and given 25 years od FSX /P3D and X plane that says a lot.

The way this software saves files all over the place, creates non removable system files and finally can corrupt your registry is not good for premium software from MS is it?

Why is this instal so messy and why do we need all these side apps to run MSFS? Why can’t it install in one place and be self contained?

At best we can hope for a patch or hotfix to come soon, at worst SU6 comes out in September. Either way, Asobo will give a statement on their official website soon for their feedback segment or however they do it, or they’ll have someone that’s running SU5 perfectly give it endless praise. That’s usually the case in these situations.

Thinking of going back to P3D too

The beta’s should last longer and get a larger user size. I can’t believe that beta was without issues… But hey, it needed to launch in time for Xbox, I suppose…

I feel a patch / hotfix (a large one) will be out very soon. Who knows, maybe the reason that Asobo haven’t said a word about this yet is because they’re working so hard to fix this up. That doesn’t really make sense for me to say though as PR would let us know about what is going on. I honestly find it quite hard to believe that they’re oblivious to the community right now.

I didn’t have any CTD’s yesterday but I can’t fly today as I’m crashing every time I leave Exeter airport, about 5 minutes from take off. Has happened 3 times in a row.

Only things I’ve done differently from yesterday is disabled motion reprojection in OpenXR (using Reverb G2 VR).

Tomorrow I’ll put motion projection back on and see if that fixes it.

I wouldn’t reinstall everything, it’s probably a known bug that Asobo will be working on and fix over the next few days.

The SU5 beta had a ton of issues and they couldn’t say anything about it because of the NDA. I know someone who did the beta and they told me about how bad it was only because of how upset they were with SU5 and how it would affect the mods they make. So yes, people knew ahead of time how bad it would be. They knew last week when they were testing the beta and they even told Asobo and Zendesk about all of the issues only to be met with silence.

I’m not a lawyer (I WORK for a law firm) nor do I use FSX, but thank God for X-Plane. I cannot do a single flight on MSFS as it freezes or CTD’s. But thank you for being so polite.

Agreed, but the underlying issue since alpha is Asoso/MS does not listen to the testers.

You could test for a year, but if they can’t/won’t listen objectively to the feedback - what’s the point of the test?

Arrogant much?
