Discussion + Poll: Sim Update VIII (1.23.12.0)

I have the same. Binding a controller switch works well though

Exactly – How more messed up could MSFS Updates or re-installs be !!

And its a total waste of time even discussing it, as every update, it changes and works differently !!
If MSFS cannot have a logical and robust installer, what does that say about the product itself !!

At the end of the day, its just quicker, and more reliable, to delete the whole thing, and start again with a fresh Install ~!!

1.23.12.0 Beta may be the new SU8, but why could it not have a later version number, so one can tell one is still on the beta, or the new released SU8 !!

Just very disappointing, and each update, it does not get any better (at least for PC users)

Better depiction of overcast conditions. YMML this morning and pretty accurate.

All - Some of the issues are server loads, everyone and his cousin now trying to DL update. Going to wait until F-14 update is out then try again, maybe Friday. Other SIMS to play on FSX and XP. Have fun all, seems still lots of CTD’s and other things not working. I certainly hope my devices work once updated, but this sim currently is floating on a very thin margin of ice, if it collapses and I go through I’m done.

wow, totally forgot about LimeWire. :expressionless:

Live traffic still crawling along the runway causing multiple go-arounds. Lost count of how many tickets and requests have been submitted to fix this.

If you’re flying an airliner into a major airport, this bug just kills the realism. It’s sad really as apart from this, SU VIII has been good for me so far.

Beginning to think that Microsobo only care about low, slow VFR and are ignoring IFR pilots flying airliners.

Honestly, I don’t think they care.

Everything went pretty smooth for me.

I notice no significant performance change from SU7

I tested the 152 for the new prop dynamics, but it wasn’t noticeable. Left turning tendency was almost completely obliterated by the LONG known bug of excessive weather-vaning on the ground, in fact I had to use a big left boot to keep it straight even in light winds… Totally wrong still.

Once off the ground when the weather vaining is more realistic, I didn’t notice any real change during climb out even at high power, High AOA, low speed. It really felt just the same as it always has.

Photogrammetry is still a frame rate killer in built up areas, I wish this would be addressed somehow.

Otherwise the sim is fine.. I only did one VFR flight with the 152 as I was really hoping for big changes.. but really, didn’t notice much of any difference at all from yesterdays version.

I can pop out 3 windows (e.g. ATC + 2 displays from the FBW A320) and put them on another screen in DX11 without appreciable loss of FPS - it could be more than 5, but it’s not materially damaging. I had to change my vsync setting to none in nvidia control panel though and make sure vsync was off in game.

That’s one of the standard QuickViews defined for each plane in the camera.cfg file. Standard keyboard shortcut is Right ā€œCTRL + Lā€ or ā€œShift+CTRL+Lā€ (for HOLD).
In most planes it gives you a view as if you’re closer to the windshield and your ā€œheadā€ raised a little. Basically to have a better view over the nose of the airplane.

I had the same thing. I had to reboot the game five times, but I’ve got it all updated now. I’m blaming it on everyone in the world in downloading the updates at the same time.

The A320 has lots of power in CLB mode!!

LOL okay I know what I am doing.

Opposite for me… Worst stutters I have ever had. However, I am willing to bet it might be servers jammed right now as millions of users upgrade today. It is hit and miss… One time it is fine, next login it is a slideshow, and yet another login is also fine… I reserve judgement until a few days have passed.

Vsync off has always been a requirement for popouts to work properly. And the number of popouts you have (as long as vsync is off) is irrelevant. 1 or 10, the performance drop is the same. There’s nothing new there.

You’re the first person I’ve seen so far to report this actually working. I would be curious to know what your actual before and after popout numbers are though. In DX12 (for those that can run it without crippling stutters), there’s zero frame loss with popouts. I’d love to know how your actual DX11 numbers compare.

Highly frustrating. CTD just after I touched down at Newark after a flight from KMIA. Yesterday, I had a CTD starting the descent, then had to quit the flight on my second attempt because I ran out of time. Third time was not a charm. The game has been so unstable lately and I was hoping that his update would fix it. No such luck. Sigh…probably need to reinstall.

Too late now to do that test, but will try to do tomorrow. Without changing the vsync setting, I was seeing 15-20 FPS drop and basically unusable. Turning vsync made it workable - 2-3 windows is fine - more than that seemed to get into bad territory again. I’ll have a look and report back

Number of windows popped out should have no impact. Whether I fly with 1 window (like with a single GNS) or with 5 (TBM or CJ4), there’s no difference in the performance hit. And nowhere is my fps limited either in sim or in nVidia CP.

Yep, don’t know what to tell you. Will check the numbers tomorrow

Thank you. I appreciate it.

Did anyone notice that every time you open the VFR map it resets?

I tried this but it didn’t work. I’m stuck downloading Asobo-aircraft-c152-0.1.86.fspatch.part over and over
