Discussion + Poll: World Update VII (1.22.2.0)

That’s actually very heavy for MSFS, recommended high end specs quote 50Mbps although they have increased available terrain LOD in options since then.

You know … and this has happened to me on this machine awhile ago, windows doesn’t like certain intel network cards, and when the win driver is dumping on the intel network card, you get similar things happen as well.

Case in point I have a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop, the gaming laptop was doing 100mbps downloads, while the desktop was only doing 20mbps…start diggin on the net and find a possible problem regarding drivers, so I installed the intel drivers instead of the window drivers, and lo and behold now both machines are downloading at 100mbps (figured this one out during a huge update).

So that too is something to consider, find out what kind of network card is in your box, and look on the net to see if there are any reported issues with windows…

MSFixIT Simulator…LOL

This thread is already way off topic but I just can’t resist. Here’s me thinking I was bang up to date however I just got new wifi and bluetooth drivers. If like me you don’t like stuff running in the background be sure to uninstall or disable this finder app once you’ve updated.

Reboot your PC, let your PC completely load up and this error goes away.

Just to check, can anyone post a screenshot showing non melted vs melted buildings? All buildings in MSFS 2020 would look great if not for “buffer bloat” doesn’t make sense technically or otherwise. I’ve yet to see this in action through any kind of competitive screen shot. I’ll be more than happy to be completely wrong

Internet problems can affect PG quality but by far the biggest reason for poor PG is the age and quality of the original captures and that includes the distances and angles they were shot from.

Remember, that site in only really measuring latency, it could be bufferbloat, or it could be a bad tap, or it could be…

Just got out of the sim, watching performance on the other monitor, its showing 80mbps comming through the machine, I have nothing else running .. its just me here, so Im getting 80mbps, and the little message keeps popping up telling me I dont have the bandwidth to stream PG would I like to switch offline .. look over again still at 80mpbs…

I did notice that even though I had my LOD set to 4 and 3, the game was only drawing out to around 20-30 mi. and then after that it was like desert.

That, and performance concerns even if the PG were of good quality. Also this is not GTA, we fly in the air over the cities, that’s where it needs to look good from, not from the ground from the distance of 10 metres.

All the same I think if helicopters are to be officially supported there needs to be better solutions than at present.

Just to follow up. I got it working after convincing MS that I actually owned the game. Seems my credentials got borked on the Xbox server and they had to fix that. Once they fixed it all of a sudden the game started to run without CTD.

Lousy DRM did me in.

Just got to try out the World Update Australia and overall I’m very impressed !!

They’ve done a great job with Melbourne including most of the major new Skycrapers that have gone up in last few years - including the just finished Queens Place (with gold roof crown) and the still not finished West Side Place. Also impressed at the correct nighttime lighting on Aurora, Queens Place, Australia 108, Rialto as well as correct strobes on roof of Eureka. Similar story in other major cities.

So proud to see my apartment beatifully rendered !!! (I live in Aurora the one with the vertical white strip lighting in the last 2 shots)

Overall great job Orbx - Darwin also looks fantastic you can see all the bars and restaurants down Mitchell St as well as the man made beach at Vibe Hotel on waterfront ..

Only shame is Tulla (YMML) still not handcrafted to go with the update city but alas ..

Remarkable find ! I looked but I can’t confirm it.. when it cannot be reproduced, you may want to check your cache. Clear it..

I suspect ORBX will be releasing a version of YMML soon.
I know it’s not the same but if you don’t already have it, I can recommend their version of YMEN.

See my screenshots above in this post:

Looks good. I’m a little surprised you didn’t get ticks for “Low Latency Gaming” as you seem to meet all the criteria:

  • Low Latency Gaming:
    • Download speed > 10 Mbps
    • Upload speed > 3 Mbps
    • 95th Percentile Latency < 40 ms

Here’s mine for comparison:

I’ll be upgrading my modem router real soon.

Try this first:

  1. Quit MSFS
  2. Go to “Control Panel”
  3. Click on “Network and Sharing Center”
  4. Click on “Change adapter settings”
  5. Right click on your connection
  6. Click Properties
  7. Untick “Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)”
  8. Click OK
  9. Close off “Network Connections”
  10. Close off “Network and Sharing Center”
  11. Launch MSFS
  12. Click on OPTIONS
  13. Click on “GENERAL OPTIONS”
  14. Click on “DATA”
  15. Make sure “ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY” + “BING DATA WORLD GRAPHICS” + “PHOTOGRAMMETRY” are all set to ON
  16. Click on “DELETE” for “DELETE ROLLING CACHE FILE”
  17. Click OK
  18. Click the home icon
  19. Click on “APPLY AND SAVE”
  20. Go for a flight around the Gold Coast

If no good try this second:
21. Quit MSFS
22. Click in the windows search bar
23. Type in cmd
24. Right click on “Command Prompt”
25. Click on “Run as administrator”
26. Copy only one of the following commands(start at 26.a):
26.a. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
26.b. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=highlyrestricted
26.c. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=restricted
26.d. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=experimental
26.e. netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=normal
27. Paste the command into “Command Prompt” by right clicking anywhere within the “Command Prompt” window
28. Press Enter key
29. Reboot
30. Launch MSFS
31. Click on OPTIONS
32. Click on “GENERAL OPTIONS”
33. Click on “DATA”
34. Make sure “ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY” + “BING DATA WORLD GRAPHICS” + “PHOTOGRAMMETRY” are all set to ON
35. Click on “DELETE” for “DELETE ROLLING CACHE FILE”
36. Click OK
37. Click the home icon
38. Click on “APPLY AND SAVE”
39. Go for a flight around the Gold Coast
40. If still no good repeat steps 21-39 but this time try the next command in the list in step 26 i.e. on your second time use the command in 26.b.

If you have tried all 5 commands in step 26 then try this third:
41. Quit MSFS
42. Launch MSFS
43. Click on OPTIONS
44. Click on “GENERAL OPTIONS”
45. Click on “DATA”
46. Make sure “ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY” + “BING DATA WORLD GRAPHICS” + “PHOTOGRAMMETRY” are all set to ON
47. Click on “DELETE” for “DELETE ROLLING CACHE FILE”
48. Click OK
49. Click the home icon
50. Click on “APPLY AND SAVE”
51. Click on your gamer tag(upper right hand corner)
52. Look for where it says SERVERS it will probably be set to “AUTOMATIC [SERVER NAME]” and click the SERVERS drop down box and click on a server in the list
53. Write down which server you chose on a piece of paper
54. Click on your gamer tag
55. Go for a flight around the Gold Coast
56. If no good repeat steps 41-55 except in step 52 pick a server that isn’t on your written list and continue repeating until all servers have been tried.

What I’m seeing are scenes generated from a high end system. What I’m asking about is the “buffer bloat” that, according to posts here, is what’s responsible for melted buildings.

So, can anyone that’s defeated “buffer bloat” show me what their Toronto looks like? It should look really good if “buffer bloat” is the issue and “buffer bloat” has been defeated, especially on a high end system.

I would be perfectly happy to be wrong and I’ll offer up the most sincere apology but I’m kind of calling BS on “bufffer bloat” being the issue for melted buildings. But if someone has a shiny Toronto then I"m dead wrong and the fix is pretty easy. But I don’t think so.

Here’s Toronto City airport with, I guess, “buffer bloat”…

OK, make of this what you will, but I just did the bufferbloat test with this outcome:

So not sure about the “high end system” bit from a bufferbloat perspective. Have I “defeated” buffer bloat? No idea, but I know I don’t get melted buildings and never have.

Although I might look at tweaking a few things now…although if it’s not broken…

Would you mind posting Toronto City then from the runway like my shot is? I’d like to see the difference

I will do, but working just now  , so give me a couple of hours. Your pic looks pretty good to me though - don’t look like the melted triangles I’ve seen others post

wow 123 of download latency, thats pretty terrible, though I am envious of the up and down speeds lol

When you download updates what kind of mbps are you getting 540 mbps or alot less…
